About
In his experience practicing family law, Raleigh divorce attorney Zachary M. Underwood has found that when someone is going through a separation or divorce, they are dealing with more than just the end of a marriage. They also are coping with the loss of their best friend.“It is at that moment they need someone who will be there for them, who will listen to their story, and who will support them through this trying process,” Mr. Underwood said. “I enjoy being there for my clients and making them feel supported and cared for.”When listing his greatest strengths as an attorney, Mr. Underwood puts his dedication to preparation at the very top.“No matter what it is I am doing, I want to be prepared,” he said. “If we have an upcoming hearing, mediation, or even a simple telephone conference, I am going to be prepared and ready to handle whatever may come up.”Mr. Underwood is honest and to the point. He’s also dedicated to doing whatever he can to help his clients transition to the next stage of their lives.“You are always going to receive my best possible work,” he said, “and I am going to do it as efficiently and effectively as possible. This is always a tough process, but when it is done, my goal is for each of my clients to look back and think that my guidance made all the difference.”

When I first reached out to Zach, I was more seeking guidance than looking to retain a lawyer. I was in a sticky situation and just needed to know what could legally be done on my end, without causing legal issues. After meeting with him twice in purely advice seeking meetings, I reached a point of need to retain a lawyer. Once he was retained, we stayed in constant communication about the case, with effort to resolve quickly. He had open communication with me and was available when I needed. The opposing counsel was not as sharp and on top of things as Zach was, which ended up playing in our favor. He worked briskly to have Separation Agreement drawn up and was persistent with the other counsel to addemned and move forwards. Zach made and appearance in court with me as well, and was very professional and prepared. When the negotiation process was taking place, Zach gave sound advice on what beneficial steps I needed to take, and what was worth the cost, not seeking to make "more" profit, but more so to resolve the case. I would highly record Zach and the office of Cordell & Cordell.
The very first day that I had met, Mr. Zach Underwood, I was astounded by his professionalism. Mr. Underwood is always available, easy to talk to, very understanding, very organized, unbiased, though direct and to the point. He made me feel extremely relaxed and calm and made me feel like I had nothing to worry about, which made it easy for me to have complete confidence in him. I highly recommend, Mr. Zachary Underwood. "He is, THE DAVID, from, David and Goliath, in the court room." From our hearts, Thank you.
He gave tough, sound advice. I was in the right, she had cheated. I worked, she didn’t. She changed the locks, I didn’t. Long story short, I wanted things to end peacefully, but also get what I deserved (everything I own and worked for). He did just that. No alimony, signed away rights to house. Well done. He is not needed if you and your soon-to-be-ex are peaceful; if that is the case you can handle divorce yourself. When you are dealing with crazy, you are the good guy, and the system works against you....he fights for your rights.
I hired Mr. Underwood to handle my divorce and custody dispute. In the beginning I felt that he really cared about my case, but about a month after he was retained, I noticed that nothing was moving forward. In my "status" letter from Zach, he claimed my wife was going to be served with the divorce complaint by sheriff, but thirty days later she still had not been served. My ex-wife and I were amicable and wanted to work out our custody issues without the court and I explained this multiple times to Zach. He pushed me to ask for more than my ex and I agreed to saying that if I asked for more then it put us is a good spot to negotiate. What terrible advice!! Her lawyer actually had morals and it did work out in the end, but not until months of fighting and damage to my entire family. DO NOT USE THIS LAWYER!!
