I was referred to Bill by a criminal law attorney and a trust attorney who both had worked with Bill and had been impressed by his fair business practices and willingness to listen and apply the facts of case. In my case Bill gave fair and sound council resulting and accurately predicted the judges findings. I found him to be extremely experienced and respected by the judicial community. He clearly knows his business. I would highly recommend this good man to anyone in need of a truly smart attorney.
The person below was actually the opposing party in our case and not represented by William Valent. However I was represented by him and would highly recommend him. He did an amazing job, such a good job the person below felt the need to make a false review. Mr. Valent organized a winning case when representing me against the individual below. Not only did I win my case but the reimbursement of all attorney fees that needed to be paid by the [redacted].
I was originally referred to Bill by another attorney. After speaking with him in person and reading reviews on Avvo, I decided I could do better elsewhere and chose a different attorney. I regret that decision very much. After $9K and very little in the way of results, I fired my attorney and came back to Bill. He was very gracious and did his best to undo the mistakes that had been made by the other lawyer. I immediately realized he was way more knowledgeable and experienced than the other attorney too. Bill was very fair in his billing and pointed out ways I could save money several times. After my case was over I have called him several times for advise and he was very helpful. If I need a family lawyer again I will absolutely go back to Bill.
If you have a case that looks like it might go to trial, this is the lawyer to hire in Portland. I admit that I was a bit nervous that Bill was prepared for my case before our trial date. He seemed disorganized and I was worried that he did not spend enough time on my case. My worries were unfounded. He had created multiple exhibits, and he had a theme for my case. His advice was excellent, he asked the right questions, and my outcome was better than I had hoped for. My children and I will be taken care of until I finish school.
I highly recommend hiring Bill for your divorce case. He is extremely experienced and professional. He kept me informed and answered all of my questions clearly. I had a very successful outcome from his efforts.
I recieved the alimony/child support Mr. Valent said I would. Though we had to go to court, I was happy with the outcome.I recommend him.
I know that Mr. Valent represented me well and obtained an excellent outcome for me, including an ample award of spousal support.
Bill was great with me while I went through my divorce. He certainly knows the in's and out's of the legal system, and was able to 'tell it to me straight' which I appreciated. I never really felt like a dollar sign to him, but always as a valuable client, which can be rare in the lawyer world! I recommend Bill highly.
Horrible work ethic, poor follow though. Played mind games to prolong a custody battle. Has his own agenda. My ex and I settled own custody battle after ditching Valent and were much better for it. Not after spending thousands for nothing. He is a peice of work
Mr. Valent represented me in a lengthy and complicated divorce. At the end of journey, I was billed $50,000 in representation fees for a settlement in which I received no spousal support, I was awarded a car with a balance that I refinanced with the help of my parents and a house with a mortgage. My biggest complaint with Mr. Valent is that he was combative with me, he would call without reviewing my case notes first. His billing practices made it impossible to keep track of his efforts (I didn't receive a bill from him until 4 months after hiring him, by that time he had ran through $15,000). He has been paid about $15,000, I don't have a job, and now he has threatened a lien on my home. If you are getting a divorce in the State of Oregon, find someone else.
