About
No matter what type of case I am handling, I pride myself on client communication. I file nothing on a client's behalf without giving the client an opportunity to review and understand each facet of every document. In court, I make sure the client is prepared to face the judge, and knows what to expect before each court appearance. I also have extensivecourtroom experience. I have tried over 200 bench trials and 30 jury trials in my career. I am comfortable in any courtroom, whether it be a family law or criminal matter. I am not afraid to step into any courtroom and take a matter to trial/hearing to ensure that my clients receive favorable outcomes. I was referred to Bill Opal by a family friend. Hiring him was the best decision. He was helpful throughout the process of requesting child support and a child care agreement. He worked in a timely and efficient manner. During our court hearings Bill was well prepared, professional, and reliable. I would highly recommend hiring Bill for your legal needs.
Bill provided me with the best outcome I could possibly hope for! I was extremely excited about the outcome and the cost of his expertise.
I have had a couple attorneys over the past 10 years with my family case and I don't think I will need to find another ever again. I would recommend Bill to anyone! Bill did a fabulous job of handling my life in a equitable manner that anyone can trust. I say my life because my kids are my life and as a Dad sometimes you can feel helpless. He made me feel that he is not just there to get paid but to help me get back to life with my child. He gave me clear direction and was never more than a phone call away. The things you see as important he investigates thoroughly but he will also be that down to earth reasoning that made me feel comfortable at every step. As for his performance in court, the times we were in front of a judge Bill was the sharpest person in the room. He was truly fighting for me and was extremely well prepared for all instances. When the other lawyer tried forcing false claims about my income shut that down right away and had solutions that the other lawyer wasn't prepared for because they were sensible which the judges seem to like. He also found the other parent hiding six figures that went undisclosed. I truly feel that he had my best interest at all times and today I share equal placement of my child along with equal responsibilities with the child's other parent. If I had to do it over again I would still use Bill Opal.
I began my search for a divorce lawyer and discussed my case with three attorneys. Bill Opal, being one of those attorneys, was recommended to me by people in the States Attorney's office, who had worked with Bill. When we discussed my case, I liked the fact that he was very "matter of fact", and did not sugar coat my options. Then when I did hire him, we worked together in helping to prove specific facts. Bill told me to try and keep my emotions out of the fact finding. The judge doesn't care!!! It was good advice!! Bill also said that if I were able to collect and organize certain material, it would save me considerable money. Needless to say, I had no problem doing that. When ever I had questions, Bill responded promptly via email or text. One specific aspect of Bill's work that I really liked was that I was always informed immediately on responses by the other attorney. Bill always responded promptly to their requests and statements, yet he always would have to go back, sometimes several times to get their responses. In other words, Bill doesn't drag his feet, he gets after it!! There is no question, I would highly recommend William "Bill" Opal.
Bill helped guide us through a difficult time. With his assistance I was able to secure my rights as a father. His advice was as valuable as his services.
Sound, fair, affordable advise, follow up, follow through, detailed, articulate and accessible. He was recommended, and without hesitation, I would do the same.
I hired Bill twice for legal services. One was for a divorce case pre-covid(2018). The other was for a breach on the Marriage Settlement Agreement(MSA) during covid. I was very pleased in both instances with Bill's services. In fact for the post Covid case I didn't even have to go to the courthouse. Bill took care of everything virtually for me and followed up via email or a phone call. In both cases he was very professional, understanding, quick to respond, and provided great legal advice. Bill's office is shouting distance from Dupage County Courthouse. Due to how much he practices at Dupage County Courthouse he basically knows the entire building upside down. You can't walk ten feet without someone saying hello to him. Not only does that speak to his approachability. It also speaks to how well he knows everyone there. This includes opposing lawyers and judges. While that doesn't guarantee you anything. He does have a very good idea of what is acceptable and unacceptable to present in court based off the many cases he worked prior with those individuals. Lastly, while I hope to stay away from court in the future. If I need to I won't hesitate to hire Bill a third time.
Being in the middle of a custody battle is tough enough and having people backing you and helping you through the process is so very important. Fortunately for me I found a firm that was able to not just feed me what I wanted to hear, but had my back throughout the process to make sure, regardless of my emotions, what was best for me and my son. Bill and his team did that and through their honesty and diligent work were able to give my son and I the opportunity to continue to have a life together that otherwise may not have been had I chosen another office to defend me. They were able to defend me appropriately and honestly and didn't nickle and dime me for every cent like some law offices do. This was a great experience and I recommend any father dealing with something so difficult like a custody battle reach out to the them to help support them.
Bill, took a dire situation that I was in with a previous attorney and helped me settle very fast. He did a very good job and was thorough!
Bill came highly recommended and what immediately stood out was how honest and direct he is - he will not lead you astray nor will he waste your time or money. You never have to worry about keeping track of any dates or details, Bill has everything already accounted for and will always be there for his clients no matter how big or small the case. Bill is open to logical ideas and will actually listen to what you have to say. He's rather stoic, yet exudes compassion from time to time. Be honest with him, disclose pertinent facts to him, remain realistic and trust his process and you won't be disappointed. Opal O'Brien is an entity we unregretfully and joyfully interact with - he is worth every penny and more! You can trust him!
