About

Bill has practiced law since 2004 and has been with Merrill & Merrill since 2008. He received his bachelor’s degree in English, cum laude, from the University of North Carolina-Wilmington in 1997. After working in the public sector for several years, Bill received his law degree from Drake University Law School, graduating with high honors in 2004. During law school, Bill was on Drake’s National Moot Court team that finished first place in the region and in the top twenty in the nation. Bill also was a member of the Drake Law Review editorial board in 2003-2004. Bill began practicing law in Iowa where he primarily practiced in civil litigation, including insurance defense, products liability defense, and workplace discrimination. Since joining Merrill & Merrill in 2008, Bill has not only continued to practice primarily in civil litigation, but has also developed a practice in commercial transactions, real estate, wills and trusts, probate, Social Security disability, family law, and, most recently, immigration. Additionally, as an adoptive parent himself, Bill also enjoys practicing adoption law whenever he gets an opportunity to do so, having handled numerous adoption cases in both Iowa and Idaho. Bill was a member of the inaugural class of the Idaho Academy of Leadership for Layers developed by the Idaho State Bar. As part of his legacy project for that organization, Bill worked on a committee to support and advance the needs of Sixth Judicial District’s Veterans Court. In addition to continuing to support the Veterans Court as much as possible, Bill actively serves in leadership positions within his church. Bill and his wife, Georgia, have been married since 1996, and have four children.
