I was originally very excited to work with Jessica, Bill, and Leah. I felt as if they would work hard for me and had my best interest at heart. I worked closely with Jessica, however as important hearings came up she was unable to attend. Bill represented me in her place and was not as up to speed on my case as Jessica was. Because of this I left a spousal support appeal hearing owing MORE than when I went in. Of course I was upset by this. A few emails were sent to Jessica expressing my concern for how my case was being handled. In return I received a phone call from Jessica who was displeased with me expressing my concerns especially since it was her daughter’s birthday. I was told to find new counsel if I was unhappy and also told that this is why Jessica doesn’t like working for abused women. No matter what the outcome they are never happy. I was also told that it was not Jessica’s fault I decided to marry who I did. Jessica’s comments reminded me of all the other people in the world who make it difficult for battered women to come forward. She made me feel as if what I had gone through was my fault. After this phone conversation there was no way I could comfortably work with Neighborhood Attorney’s. I found new counsel and I couldn’t be more happy. I am finally divorced and the spousal support is over. Almost a year later, I received a letter from Neighborhood Attorneys stating that if I did not pay my balance owed to them they would turn me into a collection’s agency. I made three attempts to contact them both via email and voicemail and heard nothing back. Finally Bill responded to one of my emails stating that since I hadn’t made arrangements to pay my bill they were sending me to collections. Obviously, I would not recommend Neighborhood Attorneys. Their rates may be less than their competitors but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for.
