I graduated from Brigham Young University, receiving my J.D.,cum laude, in 1985 and my B.A. in American Studies in 1982. Afterward I began clerkingfor the Honorable Ricardo Hinojosa, United States District Judge,Southern District of Texas.I grew up in Washington, and after completing my education and some work experience out of state, I returned to the Seattle area in 1987. I first worked as an associate attorney at the law firms of Karr TuttleCampbell (1987 - 1991) and Short Cressman and Burgess (1991 - 1992). Then, in 1993, I opened my own law office where I practiced for twelve years.In 2005, I joined forces with Jacob Menashe to form Hickman Menashe,P.S.I am a past Chair of the Elder Law Section of the WashingtonState Bar Association and a member of Washington State's chapter of theNational Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. I speak regularly tocommunity and service groups, such as the United Way, helping toeducate people about estate planning, special needs trusts and otherlegal issues.I am active in my church and community, where I frequently work with theBoy Scouts of America. I enjoy spending time with my wife and twosons.
