I first met David in 1997. My significant other at the time was on her way home from a cocktail party in Dallas, and got stopped & arrested. It was quite late when I got the call from her from jail. I was somewhat panicked having never had anything like this happen before in my life. I grabbed the Yellowpages (it was 1997!) and when I went to the attorney section saw a huge full page ad with a boutique repeating digit phone number. I called. I was a bit surprised the lawyer actually answered the phone, he reassured me everything would be ok and told me how to get my girlfriend out of jail. We met with him at his office the next day and he was very confident and tough talking about how he was going to "go to the mats" with the DA's office and at trial put on quite a show and had a great chance of getting her a "not guilty" verdict. Well fast forward to the trial date. Suddenly the tough talk was gone, and was replaced with a stern warning that my GF should plead guilty as he worked out the details with the DA and would get her a reduced sentence. To her credit my GF insisted on a trial. She paid him the increased fee for a trial and wanted one. When he saw she wouldn't budge, he stepped away for a few minutes, and returned with David Burrows by his side. He assured us David was "the absolute best DWI trial attorney in Texas" and that he was handing the case off to David. Well the case went to trial that day and David won it for her, "not guilty". Fast forward several years and now I'm married (to a different person from case 1). A similar situation occurs in Southlake on the way home from dinner with wine. David was able to take that case and get it reduced to a misdemeanor "obstructing a highway". Which if it's offered to anyone reading this, absolutely take it. Case 3, the same wife in October 2022 was on a new sleeping medication, that we learned the hardway, caused her to sleep walk on a grand scale. She was stopped very late in the evening after drinking wine at home, going to bed and getting up at 1:00am to go on a drive she doesn't remember, by the Colleyville PD. Her blood test was positive for "over the limit alcohol", and the videos of her field sobriety tests as well as the tests at the police station were terrible. I thought, "well there's no way David can win this one", but contacted him anyway with the hopes he could get her some form of leniency with the court. We met with David at this office and reviewed all the police dash cam footage and other video evidence. He was honest in his assessment that it was going to be a tough case, a very tough case given the evidence and the particular judge she was assigned to. However he said he did have a strategy. He had serious reservations regarding the circumstance's of her being stopped, it just didn't jive with some of the details in the police narrative report. He said he was going to file a motion to suppress and have a hearing on this before trial. I wasn't particularly optimistic given the blood test and horrible video evidence. Well, once again David came through. He was able to rattle the DA's faith in the case enough to again get it reduced to "obstructing a highway". All the reviews saying David's the best are here for a reason. He is. DWI is not a minor charge anymore, the penalties are quite harsh if you are convicted. If you find yourself in the unfortunate circumstance of dealing with this, the absolute best lawyer in Texas to handle this is David Burrows. Thanks so much again David! Greg
We had a tough situation going in to a .31, failed sobriety test, and open containers. However, it was an interesting case where David was able to work with the prosecutor to reduce the charge to an obstruction of road - and no DWI. A total miracle, have already recommended David to friends.
David Burrows is the most knowledgeable attorney I have ever had the pleasure of conversing with. David's experience is second to none, all of his I's are dotted and T's are crossed at all times. David was reachable always and quick with a response to any question. I would highly recommend hiring David above any attorney for your legal problem.
We were referred to Mr. Burrows by a family friend, after doing some research it was clear that he is the best in his field! Every step of the way he reminded us that we were his clients and he would always have our best interest in mind. He never sugar coated things and was very honest, which made us feel more at ease. Mr. Burrows always kept us in the loop with what was going on during our case. He was always attentive and could be reached over text and phone calls and responded immediately. What we went through was stressful and traumatic in itself but with him by our side, we knew that we had hired the best. While the process was lengthy because of Covid, the final outcome was exactly what we wanted and we couldn’t be happier. His reputation proceeded him and truly exceeded our expectations. You’re probably wondering would we refer him to someone in need. The only answer is YES!
Today Mr. Burrows and I were finally able to meet after months of virtual consultations for my DWI case and it was an absolute pleasure. I can’t say I’ve ever worked with someone more poise and knowledgeable at the position than Mr. Burrows. For what I thought would be a lengthy process with multiple negative implications/convictions, Mr. Burrows was able to make sense of the case with the judge, bargain an amazing offer and I was able to leave court without penalty, jail time, probation or fees. Incredible work by this man, I would highly recommend to anyone in a similar situation, especially out of state residents like myself looking for someone to trust with their case. Thank you Mr. David Burrows & AVVO, blessed to work with you guys!
David helped me through the entire process from understanding the charges to expungement. In the search for an attorney, I found that most wouldn’t return my calls. David was always available at least via text despite being highly recommended by 3 reliable sources. Even though he was so busy, he took the time to understand my case fully and tray me like an individual and not just a number. He kept me informed through the entire process and would follow up with me regularly to make sure I didn’t have any questions. I appreciate his work and effort that he put towards my case and I couldn’t be happier with the verdict.
David was referred to me by a friend for my DWI. I was hesitant when I showed up. Attorneys are seen as someone not concerned with anything but their fee. Instead I found that he really wanted to know what happened and why. So then I just laid it on the table. He said “Ok. Now I know really what I am working with and how to help you”. He helped with my ODL so I could get to work while the court processed my case for over a year. I had my sentence and probation for two years with a breathalyzer on my car. Right now you are saying. Ok, he did his job. That wasn’t the end of it. Throughout the process I texted him with questions. For instance I let my ODL expire and couldn’t get it renewed onlin or on the phone. He called me and told me what I needed to do to get my license back so I could work. I have referred anyone that has a friend of a friend to him. They have all called me and thanked me.
David is beyond excellent, going the extra mile for his client. He came highly referred from a Federal professional, and it became apparent from day one why his clientele care so much for him to aid in navigating the legal system here in Texas. His level of professionalism and attention to detail remains his biggest attribute, never losing focus on what matters most, the case. I am truly lucky given my circumstances that David was on my side.
What can I say? David is hands down the best. Collin is a rough county to get a DWI in with an almost 0% dismissal rate but HE DID IT. I never even had to go to trial. He showed the prosecutor our defense and they immediately filed a motion to dismiss. David won’t sugar coat a single thing. He’ll give you a worst case scenario, outline the positives and negatives that may both help you and hurt you in your case and will make 0 promises. A good lawyer should never make you any promises in regards to case outcome, and he never did but he definitely delivered. No complaints. He saw me have several emotional meltdowns over the course of the year that it took to get my case dismissed and he never faltered once. The fact that he offers payment plans is also extremely helpful, especially right now during this pandemic. Hopefully I never go through this again, but if I do, he’s my first phone call.
David helped me navigate a complex legal situation and ALWAYS answered his phone when I had questions. Highly recommend.
