About
I am a partner at Edmond, Lindsay & Atkins, LLP, a law firm dedicated to representing clients in catastrophic personal injury cases, trucking/car accidents and medical malpractice. In addition, I represent victims of police misconduct. I developed my passion for jury trials as a prosecutor in Douglas County, Georgia. I secured convictions in over twenty felony and misdemeanor cases, all of which were affirmed on appeal. In my civil practice, I have secured significant jury verdicts for my clients every time I have taken a case to trial. I have represented clients and tried cases in Federal and State courts in Georgia, Florida, South Carolina and Tennessee. I am admitted to practice in the Georgia Supreme Court, the Georgia Court of Appeals, the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Northern and Middle Districts of Georgia. I am a member of the State Bar of Georgia, the Atlanta Bar Association, the Cobb County Bar Association, Lawyers Club of Atlanta, and I am a Master member of the Lamar Inns of Court.

We won the case and Bill did an amazing job with his team to provide justice for my name. Bill is professional, kind, and helpful, everything you want in an attorney.
Consulted William Atkins a couple of years ago about a labor case best 30 min with an attorney I ever had which I had many very knowledgeable about the law and good attitude. Too bad couldn’t retain him due to partner conflict in interest .
From the moment we first met Bill Atkins, we felt relief, and that things would soon be resolved. He not only demonstrated a thorough knowledge of the law, but he was passionate, and determined to get us the best possible outcome. Our family is truly grateful to him for his tireless work to get us a positive resolution to our case. Legal matters can be stressful, so hiring an attorney that cares and has the legal expertise you need cannot be emphasized enough.
Met with Bill explained our needs and he decided to take our case. Nice professional well layout law office in an historical part of Atlanta. Recommendation from Mark Bullman.
I highly recommend Mr. Atkins to help one in a time of need. I was employed for several years in a mid-management position at a multi-billion company. The company’s workforce consisted of approximately thousands of employees across the US, and internationally. Although the footprint was expansive, workforce diversity was lacking. I was one of only three African American mid-managers in the company (less than 1% of all company managers). The three of us were fortunate in that we reported to a Division President (1 of several company division presidents) who provided everyone with opportunities based upon their ability. In 2014 my boss was promoted to head the company’s new markets group. A new Division President was assigned to lead our team. Almost immediately, the diverse climate changed within our division. The new division president fired two of the three African American managers; refused to consider me for a vacant VP position; and allowed blatant/open racist comments to be made by VP’s and others within the division. Only white males were hired to replace my two former colleagues, while African Americans in non-management positions were also terminated at rates significantly higher than others. By mid-2015, my new boss had gained enough knowledge about my responsibilities for him to move forward with his attempts eliminate my employment. He went on a campaign to mischaracterize my contributions, insult me in public forums, and disparage my personal reputation. It was at this time that I contacted/hired Mr. Atkins requesting his help. This was a very stressful time for me and my family. I had never been subject to such aggressive treatment by an employer. Mr. Atkins took a holistic approach to my situation by providing me and my family with realistic options, and forcefully requesting that my employer cease their egregious actions. Mr. Atkins was never intimidated by this powerful company. Mr. Atkins made senior company leaders (CEO, HR VP, Legal VP…) aware of the actions of my boss, however; these company leaders refused to step in and correct the situation. For several months Mr. Atkins worked tirelessly with the company, and ultimately obtained a generous settlement for me and my family. I have since left the company and moved on to other opportunities. Today my family is in a much better emotional and financial position as a direct consequence of the determined and unwavering efforts of Mr. Atkins. As previously mentioned, I highly recommend Mr. Atkins to help anyone with their legal needs.
I hired Bill Atkins to handle my personal injury case after a serious car accident. Mr. Atkins was a strong advocate for me and negotiated a substantial settlement from the insurance company. Mr. Atkins was always available to counsel me through the process and advise me of my options in the case. A serious injury leaves you both physically and emotionally fragile. Having a competent, experienced, and empathetic attorney to assist with the legal issues in your case is extremely important both in reducing your stress and getting a large settlement. I strongly recommend Bill Atkins as a personal injury attorney.
I've been in contact with Mr. Atkins the last few days and he has been more than helpful. He was very honest about my case and referred me to several local attorneys in order to be even more cost-efficient to his already reasonable prices. He's steered me in the right direction and has been above and beyond helpful, even when he didn't have to be! I highly recommend working with Mr. Atkins.
Attorney Atkins is very good knowledgable of federal and state case law. I have been very pleased with his representation in my civil case. Most recently, Attorney Atkins help me get a federal district court finding reversed in the federal court of appeal. I am very fortunate to have Attorney Atkins as my attorney on this case.
In 2003 I was demoted for an unknown reason after receiving a 4.7 out of a possible 5 rating on my annual evaluation. I called the office of William J. Atkins and explained the situation to the legal assistant. At 6 PM the following day Attorney Atkins called me to review my concerns. We set an appointment for a consultation the following week. After much probing and discussing possibilities for representation in a lawsuit he agreed to take my case. He provided a clear explanation of the attorney-client relationship including fees and realistic expectations. He explained that the wheels of justice turn slowly and require patience. Three years later, after many hours of collecting data, conducting depositions, interviewing various co-workers, developing charts and researching other cases, the court date was set. The jury was selected and the trial began. Five days later the jury awarded a verdict of reverse discrimination. I was vindicated and compensated. In addition to being dependable, self-motivated, and thorough in the research, Attorney Atkins adhered to the highest of ethical standards. He knew how and when to draw on real life experiences. He continually challenged himself to obtain a thorough knowledge of the law with an exceptional ability to interpret, analyze, and apply it to my case which even the judge openly acknowledged. During the trial he exhibited mastery over the rules of evidence with an assured confidence. As an outstanding communicator he was at his best in his persuasive ability to understand and relate to the jury and the bench. Attorney William J. Atkins is one of the best and brightest in the court of law with a true heart for justice and fairness to all mankind.
Mr. Atkins accepted and actively pursued an extremely complex and difficult case on our behalf. After a long and grueling 4 years, we prevailed in Federal Court, thanks in part to Mr. Atkins' tireless efforts.
