About

Wendy Walker has been litigating for twenty years. She is an experienced family law attorney who finds it fulfilling to counsel clients through family matters such as divorce, child custody, child support, adoption, and domestic violence proceedings. She knows that separation and divorce can be difficult, even traumatic, for her clients (and for their children) and she tries to help them through such times. Before joining Dummit Fradin, Wendy worked as a solo practitioner in Rockingham County focusing on family law. She also has a background in litigating child abuse and neglect cases as well as elder abuse cases. Her work with Social Services helped prepare her for high conflict child custody cases with difficult opposing parties. If it becomes necessary to involve a child in any case, Wendy understands the importance of working with the child’s therapist and thoroughly preparing the child to testify. She is both a calming presence for her clients, helping them through stressful situations, and brings a wealth of experience advocating zealously for them in the courtroom. One situation in which Wendy made a positive difference for a client and child was the case of a father whose relationship with his young daughter was being ruined by the mother. The mother was severely limiting his visitation, making false allegations to Child Protective Services, manipulating the child by telling false horror stories about the father, and even coaching the child on what to say to teachers and social workers. These allegations were investigated and eventually found to be untrue, the mother was abusing the domestic violence system with these repeated accusations. Wendy helped the father obtain primary custody of his daughter. Unfortunately, even after losing custody to the father, the mother continued her accusations, her emotional abuse of the child at visits, and her attempts to alienate the child from the father. At which point, Wendy returned to court, resulting in the mother’s visitation being strictly supervised. Throughout, she counseled the father to resist the urge to be defensive and instead to cooperate with investigations into the mother’s allegations. She encouraged him to focus on his daughter’s needs, obtain counseling for her, and have faith that “the truth would out,” which it did.“I believe that parental alienation – where one parent keeps a child from the other parent without good reason or interferes with a child’s love for and relationship with the other parent – is an especially heinous form of emotional abuse. A parent to whom this is happening needs the help of a good lawyer.”Wendy obtained her law degree from UNC. She received her B.A. magna cum laude in Philosophy from UNCG and M.A. in Philosophy from the University of Rochester N.Y. She held offices in the District 17-A Bar and volunteered on several boards, including the Reidsville Area Foundation, Redirections of Rockingham County, and Kaleidoscope Child Advocacy Center.“Just as everyone deserves equal protection under the law everyone also deserves zealous representation. I have been proud to help LGBTQ+ clients with name changes, custody disputes, domestic violence issues, etc.”Away from the office, Wendy enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and watching scary movies. She is also a collector of unwanted dogs. When you contact Attorney Wendy Walker, you will find an honest and transparent lawyer who appreciates the same in her clients. No attorney can predict what a judge will do at trial, of course, but her experience gives her a realistic idea of what may achieve the results you want. She will always give you the best advice she can. Set up a consultation today to explain your legal needs.

I hired Wendy for my child custody case. She really cared about my kid. When they were breaking down, she supported us and talked us through everything. It's so obvious she cares about her clients and their family. I would highly recommend her to anyone that needs a family attorney.

I hired Wendy when I was having difficulties with my ex and child support. I was being made to pay more than I could afford for longer than I should. No attorney I hired previously was able to help, but Wendy could. She went to bat for me. I will always appreciate her.
