My mother passed away this past summer, July 2018. Her estate consisted of a security deposit refund check made out to her "estate". Because of his advice we didn't have to go through the expense and extensive time required with the probate process. Instead he guided me through a process for small estates. This required the check be canceled and reissued. But the process was much cheaper, easier and faster than going through probate.
