About

The reasons I chose to be a Kansas criminal defense lawyer are difficult to put into words. It’s the feeling I get when I see somebody’s car pulled over and they watch helplessly as their property is searched. I wonder: was there a legitimate reason for the stop? Did they consent to the search? When I hear on the news that a suspect is taken into custody, my first thoughts are: How did they get to be a suspect in the first place? Will they be intimidated into surrendering their rights? Do they really understand the Miranda warning? What coercive interrogation tactics will be used? Promises? Threats? Lies?If a case does make it to trial: Will the judge and jury really presume the Defendant is innocent? What extra credibility will they give an accuser's testimony over the Defendants? Will the jury truly not use the Defendant’s silence as an inference of guilt? If someone is sentenced to prison: What kind of person will they be when they complete their sentence? Once they have paid their debt to society, the stigma of being a ‘felon’ will forever haunt them, taking away their right to vote, bear arms and eligibility for countless jobs. Is this really in the public’s best interest? These are my thoughts and some of the feelings that inspired me to become a Kansas criminal defense lawyer and continue to drive me every day to defend our rights.Vincent Rivera,Kansas Criminal Defense AttorneySpecializes in Federal and State Criminal Defense.Contact us at:Schlagel Long Rivera LLC100 E. Thank you so much. You were sent from heaven for my case. The effort and the check ups too was amazing. I don’t even know what to say, but I will recommend you for everyone especially those with worsted cases . God bless your family too.

Mr. Rivera is a great attorney, he takes his time to listen to his clients. He asks questions to clarify client's story. He asks the right questions and he is engaged in the talk. He evaluates your statements from the notes he took by asking questions about everything to make sure he gets it right. I felt like he has great listening skills. He does not pass judgment on clients but he will tell you all the possible outcome of the case. He will advise on all possible routes available for which the case may take and leave it the clients to make the final call. The other positive thing I found about him is that he takes the time to communicate to his clients directly and not through the secretary. He give clients his cell phone and can be reached pretty much anytime. He actually advice you to call anytime with anything new or you feel like discussing with him. To some level he builds a relationship that feels more like friendship. This kind of approach gives create an environment of openess which in turn help with case because when clients feel confident of his abilities to defend them. Another positive of Mr Riviera is that once you hire him he will always have time for you regardless of have an appointment or not. You can pop in his office anytime and he will create time, like I mentioned it more of a friend than an attorney. You don't feel intimidated approaching him about your case. Mr Riviera also does prepare you as a client by have another attorney not involved in the case play a role of a real court scenario to evaluate the client's readiness to be in court. This experience alot helps you build confidence when faced with angry prosecutora ready to tare you down. I had mostly positive experience with Mr Riviera throughout the entire process. I started out in fear but as time when by I built confidence because he is a lawyer that believes in his ability and he will transfer it to his clients. I believe more cases are won with confidence and lost when fear creeps in. His may be pricey but trust me no price will be a not guilty result any day. He is very understanding and can work with payment plan as long as you keep your end of the deal. I rated him excellent not just because he won my case, but because he deserved it. I would rate him the same regardless of the outcome. He is a very smart attorney he somehow has a knowledge of how things may play out and plans on all possible scenarios. This gives him an edge if he needs to change defense approach. His reassurance alone can make you believe on positive outcome when things look hopeless.
