I hired Veronique Liem without the help of the Avvo community. Veronique helped me mediate my very complex divorce. I found her very helpful and knowledgeable in matters of custody, real estate and business while also having a fantastic professional network which spread the workload and kept the case moving forward. I found Veronique very patient and sympathetic to what I was going through and she was very astute in guiding me away from strategies that might jeopardize my case's success. Veronique made herself very available to me and if she was busy with another case would always respond promptly. Veronique was highly recommended to me outside of Avvo and I am more than happy to pass on praise of her.
Veronique handled my divorce in a timely, thorough manner. She is realistic about expectations and exceedingly fair in the way she conducted the meetings with my soon-to-be-ex and his lawyer. What I most appreciated, however, was her compassion and concern for my well-being throughout the process. I felt that she was truly interested in my welfare and that of our son. If you are hoping to maintain an amicable relationship with your ex-spouse, I would highly recommend Veronique.
I highly recommend Veronique Liem. She handled my divorce with grace, level headedness, compassion, and an excellent knowledge of divorce law. She always put my daughter and my interests first and was genuinely concerned about our well-being. I liked the fact that she has an MBA in addition to a law degree. Thanks to Veronique Liem, I came through the divorce process knowing that I received what I was entitled to and had a better understanding of our financial situation.
If you want a brilliant lawyer who also cares about you as a person then you’d do well to hire Veronique Liem. It was the very best move I made in getting through my divorce. She has no need to be bully or intimidating in representing you as some lawyers do. Her very powerful secret weapon is her intelligence and her style is calm and collected. Her knowledge of the law and how to present your case is impressive. I can’t say enough good things about her as a lawyer and honestly, plain and simple she’s a really nice, caring human being. Who wouldn’t want that type of person representing them? Divorce is likely going to be one of the most challenging things you go through in your life. Do yourself a huge favor, hire her.
I was in an abusive situation and had filed for divorce 6 years earlier, and been threatened out of continuing. I filed again with Veronique as my counsel and was able to get divorced from a spouse who was fighting me every step of the way. I greatly appreciate her help. In response to another review, I found her rates to be reasonable and her French accent easily understandable.
I knew after my initial discussion with Veronique that she was the one who would be best to handle my divorce case - and she was. The case was not a simple in case and it took much longer than anticipated.. but Veronique was compassionate, understanding, and work on many different levels to get to the point where the case was eventually mediated and settled. She was open to my suggestions where needed, she listened, made herself available at all times, and I could even talk to her on a personal basis and not feel judged or intimidated. I would recommend her services in a difficult time in someone's live when a decision to end a marriage is made. Great experience during a difficult time.....
I had a very bad experience a few years ago with a lawyer who did not represent me in a way that I felt was `appropriate or professional. So, when I needed a lawyer this time around, professionalism and class were high on my list of priorities. Veronique met all of my requirements and helped guide me through a very long and often contentious situation without exploiting my time and money. She got me to the finish line and I'm sure I'll call her next time.
Everything below is strictly my opinion - Negatives: 1. Exceptionally high hourly rate. In my opinion, her rate is far too high for someone who is not focusing all of her efforts on marital law. 2. Extremely expensive in how her hours just add up and add up and addup. 3. Her heavy French accent made it difficult for me to understand her, even in our conversations across the conference table. I believe the Judge had a much more difficult time clearly understanding her in the large courtroom. 4. Regarding her oral arguments before the judge, she appeared to be disorganized and somewhat flustered. She did not appear to be in control, going through items point by point, and her lack of voice clarity, her lack of voice projection, and her accident all seemed to make it difficult for the Judge to follow her. 5. My saving grace was that my ex-spouse's attorney appeared less well prepared. Additionally, I believe that attorney was already facing an uphill battle, which means that odds were stacked against her even before the hearing of our motion. 6. On a recurring basis, and after I had spent significant money on her to bring her up to speed on my case, she only then made it exceedingly clear that she was in charge, that I was lucky to have her as an attorney, and that she would drop me as a client whenever she felt like it. Remember, though, that this was only after I had paid her significant money to prepare her to file a motion, analyzing hundreds of pages of documents and engaging in countless numbers of phone calls. To me, she seemed to almost be saying, "I've made all sorts of money on you as it is, and you're highly unlikely to want to re-spend that money on another attorney, so now I going to treat you as if I'm the client." I felt as if I could not depend on her day-to-day to continue on the case. Positives: 1. I believe she has her MBA, and she did demonstrate some business understanding, but I'll leave it at that. Summary: I'd never even consider hiring her again. It was an unpleasant experience, and I only believe things worked out because the other attorney was working against the facts. The deck was stacked against her.
