About
Tonya MacBeth represents her clients with a keen focus on the client's goals. Her action-plan style allows her to efficiently assess the legal dispute, counsel the client as to thier options and endeavor to acheive the desired outcome. Arizona is Tonya's home state. She graduated from the University of Arizona in 1991 and the Arizona State University Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law in 2005. She was a Pedrick Scholar and recieved the International Academy of Trial Lawyers Award and the Pro Bono Service Award. During Law School, she competed in the American Bar Association's "Representation in Mediation Competition" taking second at Nationals in New York City, and first in the Western Regional Finals (twice). Tonya was also the Client Counseling Competition winner and actively participate in the ASU Trial Advocacy Team. While a student attorney in the Civil Justice Clinic, she had the privilege of successfully representing her client at the Arizona Court of Appeals. Prior to law school, Tonya was a small business owner and had a career in mental health services. She started as a direct service provider then led as an advocate for Arizona's Seriously Mentall Ill population. Her company was contracted with the Arizona Department of Health Services to investigate allegations of physical abuse, sexual abuse and mortalities within the mental health system, and provide advocacy services. This experience taught Tonya the art of advocating for people who are facing serious personal challenges by getting to the root of the issue, defining the appropriate solution, and advocating to acheive the client's goals. This technique of acknowledging the conflict--whether its a business or interpersonal dispute--and developing a rational approach to attaining the desired outcome still holds true today in all areas of her practice. Tonya is authorized to practice law in Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, and the U.S. District Courts for the District of Arizona and District of New Mexico. She is a litigator. Her practice areas include Family Law (Premarital, Divorce, post-decree modifications, and parenting issues), Commercial Litigation, and Construction Defect Defense. Tonya is active in the Thurgood Marshall Inn of Court. An organization dedicated to improving the skills, professionalism and ethics of the legal profession. She is also a member of the Maricopa County Bar Association and the Arizona, New Mexico and Nevada State Bar Associations. Tonya continues her support of the Arizona community through memberships in various organizations and as Vice-Chair of the advisory board to CHEEERS, a consumer run mental health recovery and rehabilitation center. In addition to being a lawyer, she is also a wife and mother.
