When the court reporter showed up and we realized the message hadn't gotten to Mr. Egerer, he proceeded to yell at me in front of an audience of folks waiting in the firm's lobby. I specifically recall him asking "how dumb could you be?" Nice. (Something about how you treat the underlings shows a person's true character.)
