About

Tim’s legal career was shaped by his love of education, a knack for numbers and a mentor who came in the form of a district court judge in South Carolina who was a close friend of his family. After graduating from the University of South Carolina with a degree in Finance from the Moore School of Business, he continued his pursuit of education at law school in his hometown of Charleston, South Carolina. During his time in law school, Tim discovered that his natural fit was tax law and his career path was born. After completing his Juris Doctor in 2010, Tim took, and passed, the bar exam in South Carolina. Shortly after taking the bar in South Carolina, Tim traveled to Denver to pursue a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. The LL.M. program at Denver is consistently ranked among the best in the country. Since he had been to Colorado on family ski trips as a child Tim felt Denver was a win/win choice given his love for the outdoors and the opportunity to receive a top-notch education. He completed his LL.M. degree in 2011 and has practiced law here ever since.Tim joined Evans Case, LLP as an associate in May 2014. Prior to joining Evans Case, Tim practiced for a small firm in Parker, Colorado, and then moved on to regulatory and compliance work for a Fortune 500 Company. At Evans Case, Tim focuses his practice on all aspects of estate planning, estate administration and probate. His LL.M. degree makes him uniquely qualified to advise his clients on all estate planning matters. This includes interpretation of wills and trusts, the design and implementation of estate plans that work best for clients’ individual situations, disability planning, spousal rights, distributions to beneficiaries and property transfers. Tim aspires to deliver outstanding service to his clients through the use of innovative and dynamic legal solutions that maintain their financial security and provide for their family members in the best possible way.Outside of the office, Tim is an active member of the Denver legal community. He is a member of the Colorado Bar Association and is the current program chair of the Centennial Estate Planning Council and on the board of the Estate Planning Council of Southeast Denver. Both of the estate planning organizations are comprised of multidisciplinary professionals who are dedicated to continuing professional education concerning estate planning and tax law.Additionally, Tim is deeply committed to making his community a better place. He is on the executive board of VSA Colorado, which supports people with disabilities who have artistic talent and are transitioning from high school to adulthood. As president of the Denver alumni chapter of the Charleston School of Law, Tim and fellow alumni commit to quarterly community service projects. These projects have included cooking breakfast for guests at the Ronald McDonald house, working at the Furry Scurry for the Denver Dumb Friends League and adopting families during the holidays in conjunction with the Salvation Army.Recently married, Tim and his wife enjoy the great Colorado outdoors and regularly golf, ski, hike and bike every summer in the Bike MS cycling series. Their two dogs, Maggie and Jameson, are currently their pride and joy.Contact Tim Bounds at 303-757-8300
