I went, almost literally, from jail to the offices of Corrigan, Welbourn & Stokke. After my arrest, my world changed entirely. If you are reading this review, you already understand the confusion and the fear that color the entire experience of a legal conflict. From the moment my family and I met Al Stokke, we felt better able to face the situation. The year-and-a-half that followed, during which time Ed Welbourn took the lead in managing my case, provided a stunningly enlightening experience. My ignorance of the law left me with very few tools for facing the charges against me, but thanks to Ed, Al, and Kate Corrigan, I never felt alone in that struggle. Ed Welbourn is a gladiator. He’s smart, savvy, and incredibly capable. In my experience, he understands both offense and defense well enough to make the right call about when to use each—and when to just sit quietly and wait. Ed provided guidance and counsel when I needed them, and he did so with what has always proven to be a genuine honesty. He is a model of professionalism, and I am thankful that he oversaw my case. Al and Kate were invaluable supports as well—and I will never forget either the competent experience Al brought to our first and our last meeting at CWS or the tough cleverness that characterized every interaction I ever saw Kate have in court—but Ed saw my wife and I through some of the hardest moments in our lives. If you hire Ed, don’t expect an ambulance chaser. Ed isn’t a TV lawyer; he’s the real thing. He never once did anything surprising, because he always acted according to a well thought-out strategy that he had taken time to consider and to share with us and with the team in his office. There were no plot twists in my case, and that’s just how I would have wanted it. My arrest was plot twist enough. Ed’s determined, careful, predictable support was what I needed to come through. I’m glad I had it; I’m glad I still have it.
My son was accused of crimes that could have put him in prison for the same number of years he had lived. For nearly four years we lived with a monstrous fear and burden to prove his innocence. Without Ed's expertise and amazing professionalism I know the outcome could have been very different. The case was a difficult one full of gambles as it went to jury. Ed's expertise in delivering what the jury needed to understand and his keen understanding of who and what should be presented rewarded us with a total win. Two felony charges and eight lower included charges evaporated in front of us. Hearing the words "not guilty" over and over again was the best miracle from the amazing result of Ed's fine work. He will always be our family's hero.
Edward was great! He handled my case with the utmost professionalism and speed. This was my first experience with the law and I was extremely anxious. Ed took all anxiety away. He thoroughly listened to my situation and advised me of all my options. He got my case dismissed in weeks. I would highly recommend him.
Ed Welbourn was an amazing attorney. He has a wide network in the the Judicial System and new exactly what he was doing and gave me the best possible outcome of my felony case. I thought I was going to be in big trouble but since he used to be a District attorney he used his experience and networks to get me a deal that I wanted. He's the best of the best and I'm glad he was my lawyer.
Mr. Welbourn is an excellent attorney who take care of me and my case. I can not recommend him enough if you need a criminal defense attorney.
There are very few lawyers like Ed Welbourn. My family and I have known Ed for 10 years. I first met Ed when my family was helping me find representation for a lewd offense I committed at the age of 13/14. Here are some of the things Ed did for me over the years: 1. Ed successfully downgraded my court case from adult to juvenile court, even though I was a 20-year-old at the time of the court proceedings. 2. Ed helped me accept a plea deal that spared me from having to register as a sex offender, and with his help, I was able to serve my 73 days in Juvenile Hall instead of Orange County Jail. 3. In the years following my felony adjudication, Ed has always been at my side, helping me fight to get my juvenile record sealed and destroyed. Three weeks ago, in March 2017, my petition to seal and destroy my juvenile record was granted. In my estimation, Ed has a few rare qualities, qualities that only the best of lawyers have. Ed is highly professional. He is well-prepared for court proceedings. His courtroom presence is unmatched, and it is VERY obvious the caliber of lawyering he provides when he is in a room full of other attorneys. I don't know what my life would look like had I not had Ed Welbourn as my attorney for the past ten years. But I do know that the amazing life I have today is, in great part, due to the tireless/super-professional/compassionate/amazing work Ed has put forth for my family and I. Also important was how Ed treated me over the years. When I first met Ed, I was a lost and sick boy who could not fully appreciate what it meant to have Ed Welbourn as my attorney. But no matter how immature I acted, and no matter how badly my state was, Ed ALWAYS treated me with respect and level of dignity many people find difficult to afford someone like me who was charge with a sex crime. Ed Welbourn helped save my life. Thanks to his services, I feel so Free today. Many attorneys have areas of expertise or limit themselves to certain types of legal representation. But no matter what the circumstances, I believe Ed is one of the most qualified lawyers in California. There is no one better to represent me, and I trust him completely.
Have used Ed twice over last few years. Both times he was on point with representation and communication .
Ed was very helpful to me and my family through out the entire three year process of my criminal case. He is organized, easy to contact, and was very comforting through a difficult process. It always seemed he fought for my best interests and was excellent at defending my rights in court. I would highly recommend him to anyone in need of counsel.
I hired Ed Welbourn to handle a multiple theft case with a felony attached to it, for a family member about seven years ago. A Detective who had worked previously for the Newport Beach Police Department recommended him to me. The former detective told me that if he had a family member in trouble then his first call would be to Ed Welbourn. Frankly, this was all that I needed to hear. Ed handled the case professionally. He was able to negotiate a reduction in the charges, and the record was expunged. Moving ahead four years, the brother of a friend of mine was charged with a sex crime. Who did I recommend to them? Ed Welbourne. Once again, he handled their case professionally. After Ed’s investigation and analysis of the facts in the case, Ed was able to have the charges reduced and his record cleared at the conclusion of the case. Recently, I needed to return to Ed Welbourn to handle a multiple theft case for a different family member. Was I embarrassed to contact him a second time for a family member? Absolutely. Did he make me feel embarrassed? Absolutely not. Needless to say, Ed Welbourn stepped up again an obtained a successful outcome for us. Ed has stepped up to the plate three times and each time he hit it out of the park! Thank you Ed!
Ed provides excellent and quality service. I felt that my needs and concerns were met and that Ed really was invested in my case. Ed is easily accessible and always responds in a timely fashion. I highly recommend Ed for any and all legal needs.
