About
"I can’t stand it when big guys pick on little guys,” explains Thomas More Marrone. “I grew up in a family of immigrants. I grew up with the ‘little guys.’ They were my grandparents, my mom and dad, my aunts and uncles and cousins… so I take that kind of thing very personally.” After an 11 month stretch that included two class action jury trials resulting in a settlement and a verdict combining for well over $15 million, several substantial personal injury recoveries, successful business and employment negotiations, and hundreds of satisfied clients, Tom Marrone has created his multifaceted firm, MOREMARRONE LLC. His mission: to right wrongs. His method: creative thinking, hard work, passion and compassion, and a refusal to quit. Licensed to practice in the State and Federal courts of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York, Tom has extensive experience and great success handling difficult, complex cases, especially class actions and collective actions, cases involving personal injury, employment, wage & hour claims, insurance matters, product liability, consumer protection, consumer fraud, deceptive practices, legal malpractice, and wrongful use of civil proceedings. Marrone also advises individuals and businesses on a variety of matter, including crisis prevention and crisis management. A seasoned Class Action trial lawyer, Marrone also offers consultations with other lawyers on Class Action and Complex Litigation theory development, implementation, and trial strategy and tactics. Tom has served as court-approved class counsel in cutting edge class actions involving, among others, privacy issues, insurance coverage, wage & hour, the Fair Labor Standards Act, health insurer liability, consumer fraud, catastrophic flooding, fire, consumer protection, property damage, and toxic substances. The son of first generation Americans, his inspiration is personal: “My father grew up in North Philadelphia, served in the Navy, worked his way through school, and then sold law books for 35 years. He would tell me stories about the great lawyers he met; that’s where I really learned to appreciate the good things a smart, persistent lawyer with guts can do for people,” added Marrone, “I won’t be out-worked and I won’t ever give up.” “My dad had a great admiration for lawyers who used their knowledge and their expertise to fight for people who couldn’t fight for themselves. He thought that was the highest calling, and I am very lucky that he passed that on to me. I got my toughness from my dad and my sense of justice from my mom, who was raised in South Philadelphia.” Tom is a member of Million Dollar Advocates Forum and his peers have regularly selected him as one of their best. He has been and is currently listed as one of the top 5% of Class Action/Mass Tort Lawyers in Pennsylvania by Super Lawyers, as one of the Lawdragon 3000 Leading Plaintiff’s Lawyers in America, one of The Best Lawyers In America for Personal Injury, and as a member of The National Trial Lawyers – Top 100 Trial lawyers in Pennsylvania, and 1 of only 5 Top Attorneys for Class Actions peer-chosen and named in SJ Magazine. Tom has earned an “AV” peer rating from Martindale-Hubbell. According to Martindale-Hubbell this rating indicates “the highest level of legal ability and ethics. The pinnacle of professional excellence.” He has earned a perfect “10” AVVO rating as well, based on peer and client reviews and ratings. He is regularly invited to join other invitation only organizations honoring lawyer excellence. Tom was formerly with Greenblatt Pierce Engle Funt + Flores, LLC as a partner and Chair of both the Class Action & Complex Litigation Group and Plaintiffs Personal Injury Practice. Before that he spent more than 15 years at Feldman Shepherd, where he was a partner and head of that firm’s Class Action and Complex Litigation Group, and a Class Action and Personal Injury Partner at Caroselli Beachler. His move from Feldman Shepherd was hailed by The Legal Intelligencer as one of the “Top Ten Laterals” of the year based on “the effect the departure had on the former firm, the impact the lateral addition represented for the new firm and the buzz around the market when the move took place.” Tom is often asked to comment in the media regarding legal developments, the media regularly recognize his efforts and successes, and he is honored as having two separate cases featured among The Legal Intelligencer’s “Top PA Verdicts & Settlements of 2014": · A $4.85 million total settlement on the fourth day of jury trial in a Certified Class Action arising from a catastrophic apartment building fire in West Philadelphia. The court certified a class on behalf of all tenants, residents, and guests who were left immediately homeless, suffered near total loss of their personal property, and suffered economic harm. On behalf of the class, Tom Marrone sought compensatory and punitive damages for negligence and public nuisance against the owners and managers of the apartment building. As a result of the settlement the members of the class will receive full recovery for their losses and, more importantly, priceless peace of mind. The case received considerable media attention· An $820,000 settlement from the United States of America on behalf of a quarry worker who suffered electrical burn and other injuries because he followed the instructions a U.S. Mine Safety Inspector gave him during a surprise inspection. The case had been pending in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. More recently, in October 2015 Tom won a jury verdict and an $11 million final judgment after a 5 week Class Action jury trial against Star Career Academy, a New Jersey for-profit school, under the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act (“CFA”). The jury found that Star committed Consumer Fraud by engaging in unconscionable commercial practices, concealing material facts, and/or misrepresenting material facts regarding the accreditation status of Star’s Surgical Technology Program. The class includes more than 1000 students.

I am glad I have called him, he is very knowledgeable and easy to communicate. The entire conversation were good and he is amazing.
Tom Marrone is a rarity. The dedication and attention that he gives his clients is above measure. I came to Tom on February 29, 2016 with a concern that I had over a issue involving my teenage granddaughter. He listened inventively and asked questions to try to get to know my granddaughter's personality. He believed her testimony and threw his support behind her. An unbelievable four short months later her case settled. The settlement solidifies her goals to attend college and to study law. Rest assured as I did, that when you are represented by Tom Marrone - you are being represented by one of the best!
I was a member in a class-action suit that Thomas handled, helping people in a suit against our former landlords that owned our building. The apartment building was destroyed by a fire, which we believed to have occurred due to the negligence of the owner. Thomas was very responsive in all aspects of the process. He was first consulted regarding the legitimacy of the case, and then later worked tirelessly for the former tenants once the court case began, eventually getting us a judgement in our favor. I would highly recommend Thomas to anyone.
I was a member of a class action lawsuit of an apartment fire that happened several years ago. Mr. Marrone did an amazing job representing us, as well as being very friendly when I spoke with him on a few occasions. I absolutely would recommend him.
I was recommended to Mr. Marrone by a close friend and consider myself very lucky for having Tom as my friend and representative for lifetime! I can’t thank Tom enough for his patience, diligence and determination while he negotiated the execution of my employment release agreement. Tom has the utmost dignity and kindest heart. He takes the time to get to know you and built a trusting relationship from the start. Tom educated me, listened to my concerns, reassured and kept me fully informed by speaking to me or emailing me while he negotiated my agreement. Although I was ready to settle for less, he diligently negotiated for what I was entitled while honoring my concerns. Even after the release agreement was executed, he continued on following up afterwards to make sure the company had fully honored executing terms of the agreement. I would highly recommend Tom to anyone for his dignity, professional expertise and compassion.
I was pleasantly surprised by Mr. Marrone's (and staff's) consistent and compassionate communication with us as litigants. They seemed truly overjoyed to win for us.
When my poorly maintained apartment building burned in a catastrophic fire, more than a hundred low-to-middle income people were suddenly homeless. We ultimately had no choice but to organize ourselves to make sure everyone was taken care of. When it became clear that a lawsuit would be an appropriate next step, I volunteered to find someone with a proven track record who would take us seriously. Tom was fantastic from the very start. In our first meeting, he didn't bat an eye when I mentioned that I am a member of the LGBT community. He was sympathetic, honest, funny, and warm - and as a social worker, this combination is exactly what I'm looking for in professionals who I need to trust. In the earliest days, I texted him pictures of documents to get his advice before signing them - and he was responsive every time. For over four years now, he's always answered my calls or responded quickly, always made our case a priority, never made it seem like we were just one of what must have been a lot of other projects he was handling. When class members had questions, I referred them to Tom, who made himself available to chat with every one of the former tenants who wanted to talk to him, sometimes more than a few times a week. Our case eventually became so intricate I could barely give a coherent status update to other tenants, yet Tom was always on top of the newest developments and able to explain where we were in the larger scheme of things. He made sure to schedule regular meetings with me and the other named plaintiff so we understood what had happened and what would happen next. Before depositions and court appearances, he made time to meet with us to explain what we would need to do (but never pushed us to say or omit anything). When we eventually made it to court, I was genuinely impressed with Tom's ability to tie together years of complex legal developments into simple stories and compelling arguments. I'm not just happy with him because we eventually won a significant settlement, but because I think he did a serious, honorable job and never lost sight of who he was asked to represent: new immigrants, students, grandmothers, retired people - a whole spectrum of working and middle class West Philly residents. He considered the value of settlement offers not just for himself, or for me and the other named plaintiff, but for every member of the entire class, because we all understood that we were in this together. Even if we'd lost, I would still feel that I bet on the right lawyer. If I'm made him sound angelic, you should know that he does not take *any* crap from the other side. We won because he is a competent, level-headed scrapper. This was a fight and we won because Tom is a superb fighter. Highly recommended.
Tom represented our class in a lawsuit that took over 4 years to bring to settlement. I feel that I was fairly compensated for my losses, in large part due to Tom not quitting until a fair agreement was reached.
Mr. Marrone represented victims of a fire in a class action suit. I lost everything and had initially attempted to pursue legal action with a different layer independently. That attempt failed and I gave up hope of ever recovering anything. Years later and out of the blue, Mr Marrone found me and agreed to help me take action against the lawyer who screwed me. He was relatable, kind and concerned about my well-being. I'm a curious person in general and his response time to my emails was excellent. I assisted the class action suit the best I could and it won! I was happy, but my claim was separate so this victory wasn't mine. Then the phone rang again. Mr. Marrone had worked it out so that I would be included in the original class action suit. His act saved me time and money. He was not consumed with collecting more fees. I'm thrilled. Bottom line: I'm a full-time that gave up on my chances of being made whole. Mr. Marrone changed that. I'll forever be grateful. And I'll always pick up when he calls! :-) Thanks
I would highly recommend Tom and his staff. Their communication goes above and beyond. He worked hard to obtain me the maximum payout and he succeeded!! You cannot go wrong to trust your case with Tom. He will fight for your best interest because he truly does care.
