As a single mom with little ones, and an ex that needed boundaries, it was vital that I hired the right lawyer to protect me, my children, and my assets. This man, Paul Prendergast, is THE BEST attorney that I’ve had the pleasure of working with. Originally my father, who's a retired local sheriff’s deputy, suggested I intern for Paul as I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice/Criminology. I did ultimately intern for him and I was lucky enough to experience the behind the scenes thorough and strategic work Paul does, firsthand. Not only did he educate me on so many facets of law, but I also observed him make strong, intelligent moves in the court room—which still impress me. When it came time for my need for a Family Law/Divorce attorney, Paul was my top choice. If your ex is a bully, Paul will handle it. If your ex is a narcissist, Paul will handle it. If your case is delicate, if you’re scared, if you need you need straight-talk, Paul will give it to you. I’ve hired and worked with other attorneys in my life, but this man has a real gift, a legal brain that is nothing short of exceptional.

I regret hiring this law firm to the highest degree. The fee agreement was confusing with contradictory statements. If you decide to go with this firm, hire another attorney to review the fee agreement before signing. This firm did not follow its billing schedule with my case. Most firms that I have hired provide monthly statements because doing so is considered "best practices" and helps the client manage expenses. This firm did not provide me the option of monthly billing in their fee agreement which made managing expenses difficult. His staff turnover was very high leading to confusion. My case was passed from one person to another requiring more of my time to bring each new person up to speed on my case. I had to take more time off from work for this reason. Request that all email communication with opposing counsel include you as the client so you can monitor exchanges, the tone and timeliness of such communication. I did not receive copies of all exchanges which kept me in-the- dark with some aspects of my case. Monitor deadlines etc to make certain that unnecessary delays do not take place. Such delays may result in increased billable hours. Monitor accuracy of any written documents because typos and erroneous calculations were common and substantial in my case. I agree with the other reviewer that Mr. Prendergast is adversarial to his own clients.

One of the most adversarial attorneys and staff I have worked with...and I was their client! When raising an issue or question of importance to me, I was met with a lengthy (billed) email response questioning ethics. Do they understand that I have hired an attorney because I DON’T know best legal practices or strategy!?! Every response was likely another $200 out of my retainer. After settlement, they would not to respond to my balance inquiries. After a month, I was provided a refund of retainer balance without addressing disputed line items. I immediately responded to this letter with my expectations, but over a month later...nothing. Talk about ethics... I do not recommend this firm based on their poor client interaction skills, and unwillingness to discuss disputes.
