He has over 20 years of experience in the Sussex county family court room and is an extraordinary, knowledgeable and intelligent attorney. You can tell he's passionate about his work and he gets to know his clients and their cases in depth. I personally find him to be an empathic person who tries his very best to be there for his clients through painful and difficult times. His aggressiveness in the courtroom and in dealing/negotiating with the opposing party is only matched by his extensive knowledge of the law. He's very transparent about his fees and the possible outcomes of your case. He won't make false promises, but he will very likely deliver exceptional results in the end. Hands down one of the top family law attorneys in the state of Delaware.

After spending 18 months trying to fight for custody of my son without any representation, I hired Mr. Gay. Within months of hiring Mr. Gay I had custody of my son. He is aggressive and relentless. His dedication to my case was impressive. As a service member stationed in California, I need an attorney who could work with me regardless of our distance. Mr. Gay was very good about communicating with me throughout the entire process. This was my first experience dealing with a lawyer and I couldn't have been more impressed with his professionalism. His knowledge of Delaware's family law is impeccable. I would recommend him in a heartbeat! He's what I would describe as an intelligent pit bull who embraces common sense and a "winning mindset." Thank you Mr. Gay for all of your hard work!!

I was recommended by my uncle who was once on the opposing side during his own divorce. Quite frankly... He said if you want to screw your husband like I was screwed...use my ex wife's attorney, Tom Gay. When I met him he didn't make me feel warm and fuzzy. He came across as a military general with an attack plan. Anyone who appreciates someone who can roll up their sleeves and get the job done will want to hire Tom. Divorce isn't for the weak at heart. He will be your best friend after the trials...but during the storm...he is the experienced captain that you need. Hes not a therapist....he's a shark.

Mr. Thomas Gay did a remarkable job with my custody case. I considered it a great thing that he was busy bc that shows how high in demand he is and for good reason. He was very open and honest with me from the beginning. He was so knowledgeable of the law and how people work in these cases that he actually could tell me how my ex of 16 yrs would respond to something and he was always dead on. I have an enormous amount of respect for Tom Gay and have already recommended him to a few friends going through divorce. I will continue to recommend him and cannot brag his professionalism and people skills up enough. I am SO thankful to have found him. He is worth every penny!!!

Anyone who is put off by Mr. Gay's no nonsense, professional, get-it-done attitude must be extremely insecure. He is in such demand, I waited months to consult with him for my divorce. Did anyone catch the hashtag #consult in the last sentence? Interviewing with an attorney would suggest you were bringing along your resume and applying for a paralegal job within the practice for which he works. I hired Thomas Gay long before I was ready to file my divorce, making sure he represented me and not my spouse. Yes, he is a very busy man with a long list of clients. Do you want an attorney who is playing solitaire just waiting for you to walk through the door? If any attorney holds your hand and chats with you daily, I doubt he/she will be as knowledgeable of the law (as Mr. Gay) nor will they know their way around a court room. As his client, if you feel "attacked" by him, just think what he will do to the opposing side! Way to go, Tom Gay; Delaware's best.

My experience was not good. Mr. Gay seems very stressed most of the time, which trickles down to the client. In many encounters, both on phone and in person, he hinged on arrogant (and I'm being kind) and instead of trying to instill even the smallest amount of "calm" in a very stressful situation (inherent in the divorce/custody arena) he exacerbated anxiety in his own client. Many times I asked myself "who's side is he on?" and I'm not easily offended. He seems well versed in family law and I imagine his edgy personality is useful in a courtroom setting, but he needs to be more "judicious" in its use and to whom it's directed. I suspect he has too large a case load - which is not good for anyone. Very happy to have my case concluded, for many reasons.

I visited their website and there is an option that allows me to email the lawyer and I did. I called up to follow up on my email and talked to the receptionist and she took my information and informed that I would have to pay $500.00 for a consultation with Mr. Gay, I informed that I am living in North Dakota and I would like to interview Mr. Gay before we talk about my case. She informed me that to interview on his background still would be $500.00 even if we do not discuss my case or why I am hiring him. His secretary calls me in 5 minutes and informs that I would have to be in their office to talk to the Mr. Gay that he does not do it over the phone.
