About
I started my law practice in Columbus, Ohio many years ago before opening an office in Port Clinton, Ohio. I still have clients in Franklin County and counties throughout Ohio. I have also represented clients in Nevada, Nebraska, West Virginia, Kentucky, California, Maryland and Michigan, with permission of the courts. I have recently hired three associate attorneys to help broaden my areas of practice. My focus has been on criminal defense for most of my career, however, I am now able to branch out and take all types of legal work, including personal injury and wrongful death cases.

I was charged with an OVI in Port Clinton after a night out at a local bar and like anyone who is normally a good and law abiding citizen I did everything to help the police gather the information needed to convict me. The morning after being released and cited I began searching for an attorney. Tom was the only one that was completely knowledgeable about how to IMMEDIATELY APPEAL and get my license reinstated immediately at my first appearance which I didn't even have to attend. He and Patrick in detail asked specific questions and in detail analyzed the report that the officer had written about my interaction during the incident. Tom found a minute discrepancy that allowed him to request that the charge be dismissed because the officer hadn't actually described having probable cause to pull me over. The case was dismissed even though I had made a guilty confession to the officer at the scene. Tom Protected me from a potentially life changing offense even after I failed to do so by exercising my right to remain silent. If your reading this , I can tell you I highly recommend the Debacco law firm, They will fight to protect you in every possible way they can and make sure that you will get the most advantageous possible outcome for you in your case. They are expensive but cheap compared to the cost of not getting the best possible outcome or poor service associated with a lesser attorney.
I hired Tom when I was facing three serious charges that would have impacted me for the rest of my life. He clearly explained the situation and helped me understand the possible outcomes. My case lasted nearly a year, and I got to know Tom and realized that he truly cared about me and would do everything in his power to get the best possible outcome. When I had a question or concern about my case, Tom almost always answered his phone right away no matter the time. The prosecutor waited until the day of the trial to offer a plea bargain, and Tom explained the pros and cons of each choice. After careful consideration, I told Tom that I was not happy with the plea bargain and wanted to fight, and he agreed. The prosecutor spent a lot of time talking and trying to prove a point. Tom wanted to keep it simple and only said a few words, but everything he said served a purpose. Throughout the trial, he poked holes in the prosecutor's story and exposed the inconsistencies in what her witnesses said. Toward the end of the trial, he asked me to take the stand and tell the jury what really happened. I was hesitant to do so but trusted Tom's advice. Tom ended the trial with powerful closing statements, and he explained to the jury how the evidence completely contradicted everything the prosecutor had said. Waiting for the verdict was the worst part of the entire experience, but I knew Tom's approach gave me the best possible chance. After four long hours, we were instructed to go back into the courtroom to receive the verdict. The jury found me not guilty on all charges.
The Thomas DeBacco Law Office helped me navigate the legal system in Ohio. Tom explained procedure and potential outcomes. He answered all my questions clearly. Their office was able to settle things quickly. I would recommend Tom and his office to anyone who wants the reassurance of competent personable legal council.
Tom was very helpful! Never in my life did I want to hug someone so badly when the judge read the not guilty verdict! My fiance and I hired Tom after a DUI on a golf cart was issued. He always answered the phone when I called, emails were returned promptly, and he was always honest with us! He knows what he is doing, and he even gave me goosebumps during the closing arguments! I would hire Tom again as my lawyer in a heartbeat, and will forever be thankful to him and his assistant for all their help!
I have a lengthy record and hired Tom on two counts of assault and one count of obstruction of justice. Tom and his associate were able to get it all reduced to disorderly conduct. Very happy with that. I also recently hired Tom on a felony menacing and assault on a police officer. He was able to get me on 500 bond, 10% applied so for a measly 500 bond I am able to remain free. If you want a trial, he is your man.
This is the best attorney i have ever been so fortunate to have met!
Mr. Debacco and Ms. Cain did an exceptional job in the handling of my case. I was charged with a DUI on the Ohio Turnpike by a State Trooper. I blew in a breathalyzer and failed. Still, this team was able to not only get the breath test thrown out for inaccuracies in calibration, but were able to get a reduced charge of Physical Control. In retrospect, I think that I could have been easily acquitted of all charges, but the plea bargain was exceptional. If you need an attorney who has the knowledge, experience and expertise to handle the most important case, yours, then Debacco is the way to go!
I had a ton of charges against me, and Tom would not settle for anything less than a not guilty verdict on all counts. He was a warrior during my jury trial. I won my case and was acquitted. I walked out of the courtroom a free woman because of Tom. Tom is worth very penny! Freedom isn't free!
