Terry went above and beyond to help me resolve issues. He met with me on and off site and seemed to really care about making it work. Would definitely use again.
I've hired Terry Spencer a couple of times now and wouldn't consider any other lawyer for myself or for anyone that would ask for a recommendation. He's the best, he's worth every penny he charges and that's all there is to it.
Terry Spencer has been in my corner for five years now through a very messy divorce. The other party refused to cooperate and yet Terry made it happen! TERRY WON IN COURT EVERY SINGLE TIME! That is a record that speaks for itself. He has gone out of his way for me multiple times to meet when and where I can and has answered every question that I ever asked. Terry will not mince words, he is very concise and will tell it how it is, in and out of the courtroom but that is what you want in an attorney. I have referred multiple people to Terry over the years and they were all so thankful that I did because he is amazing.
Terry has been handling my divorce now for a few years and is doing an amazing job!, he has also handled my bankruptcy and did so flawlessly, he is an amazing attorney that knows his job very well, he has earned my eternal respect which is not an easy feat. Do not be fooled by those that would post negative reviews, he and those in his employ know what they're doing. I would not trust any other attorney with matters that impact the lives of my children and I.
Terry helped me with my divorce this year and I am so glad I had him in my corner. I was able to reach him whenever I needed his advice, even interrupting him during his son's graduation. Terry is a no nonsense kind of guy. He would ask me questions, I would give him answers and he would direct me as how to proceed, explaining the law in layman's terms along the way. Knowing he knows the law so thoroughly and completely left me never second guessing him. Terry is very aggressive but polite, incredibly intelligent and a well seasoned lawyer and as a result I was able to get the Sole Custody that I wanted and the alimony which has brought me great peace of mind. If you're in the Salt Lake Valley, or even if you're not, Terry is thee lawyer to have. Frankly, I would be scared going against him in the courtroom. Hahaha!!! He's really a nice guy, just don't be on the other side of the courtroom with him. I'm so happy and RELIEVED that I chose Terry R Spencer as my lawyer. Thanks, Terry! Best wishes!!!
I have known Terry for approximately 6 years now and have nothing but positive things to say about the man and his staff. First of all, I sought and received custody of my three sons in Utah of all places. Can you believe that? You want results? That's results guys! Was it the easiest thing in the world to go through? Of course not. Was I glad Terry was there to represent me? Absolutely. I was referred by a senior colleague at work and am grateful to this day that I was given his name. I had had two attorneys previous to him who essentially rolled over and played dead in court. He's a fighter and having custody of my sons is evidence of it. I have referred him to numerous people over the last 5 years and will continue to do so. Besides getting my sons which I will always be grateful for he helped me understand the legal process. When dealing with court it can understandably be a difficult and anxious time for you. Expect it. The court system is not something that gets anything done quickly and I imagine it is difficult at times for Lawyers to convey this to clients. As an engineer it was difficult to have this fact sink in. Court can be a slow process. When you visit him come prepared...ask questions. He's your hired gun guys...let him do his job and you will get the best possible result. His price was fair and he will work with you. Can you ask for anything more? He KNOWS the law guys. I counted on him and he came through for me plain and simple. I would definitely recommend him to represent family or friends if needed.
i feel terry is a air head, for he really seems un educated, and has no common sense at all i tried to lend him some of mine but he failed to understand any of it. i would not recomend him to handle a case of any kind. i would recomend "elmer fudd" over terry spencer.
This man is a very dishonest man. He will take your case, but, within the fine print is an interest rate of around 24% and compounds daily. How can this be legal to charge interest upon interest? Needless to say when I tried to sell my home there was a lien on my property for $9,000. I had no notification of this lien and was never notified that it was filed. How does a bill for $1000 end up being $9,000? Which I had to pay him directly so I could sell my home. How does an attorney do such things to innocent people? In my opinion this man should not be allowed to practice law.
I retained Terry Oct. 25, 2013 with $2,500 and paid him another $2,500 Jan. 2, 2014. Terry severely underrepresented me for over a year. I'm told by another attorney that his objection to my temporary order is badly written. He didn't even attempt to have my exorbitant CS and alimony judgment--$8,000 per month--modified after we discussed it and I delivered one or more paystubs from my new employer to him. Once, in order to obtain clarification on something, when I used the mobile number he'd told me to use any time, he yelled at me, telling me, "GOOGLE IT, STEVE!" He was almost always either condescending, rude, interruptive, and even contemptuous, or any combination of the aforementioned. He did almost nothing through all of 2014 then jumped into reactive mode over a year after I retained him and only when the Petitioner had to act or her case would be thrown out. When I obtained sufficient funds in Spring of 2015, I retained someone else who informed Terry his "services" would no longer be needed. Then, over a negative yelp.com review, he threatened to sue me for defamation. I chose to defend my legally recognized, Constitutionally protected, statutorily enforceable liberty to inform others of my negative experiences with Terry, so he filed suit for $100k for for "defamation", "intentional infliction of emotional distress", "intentional interference of economic relations”, “declaratory relief”, and “breach of contract”. He attached our correspondence from the divorce case to the defamation suit and the judge was forced by his recklessness to have to seal it. In an attempt to manufacture embarrassing situations for me, he subpoenaed the Petitioner (yes, my soon-to-be ex-wife), my new divorce attorney, and, strangely, not someone in Human Resources, but someone in Finance from my employer to whom I'd made a negative comment about him. He continued to bill me throughout his suit against me, but BEGAN TO BILL ME FOR LINE ITEMS ASSOCIATED WITH SUING ME! And his demands for an out of court settlement bordered on the insane. So as not to leave any doubt about the meritlessness of his claims, the judge dismissed his defamation suit with prejudice. If you insist on retaining him, I strongly suggest you keep yourself in the right, take copious notes, get everything in writing, write memoranda of understanding to him, and keep funds on hand to file suit against him and/or defend yourself against his ridiculous attacks and preserve your First Amendment protected freedom of speech. He's not helpful. He's not honest. He's not ethical.

Once, in order to obtain clarification on something, when I used the mobile number he'd told me to use any time, he yelled at me, telling me, "GOOGLE IT, STEVE!" Of course not.
