About
Bankruptcy Practice: I have helped thousands of people in the Southwest Missouri area erase or reduce millions in debt they were unable to pay. Bad things can happen to good people. Job losses, business failures, health bills and domestic matters can happen to anyone. Many times people need to talk to a caring, competent attorney to help them in these situations. I offer a free no-obligation consultation where you and I will review your situation and see what options are available. If bankruptcy is right for you, I will quote you a fee for my service that is reasonable and in writing. I try to keep my fees competitive and not charge for nickel and dime items. I use technology to reduce my costs and pass the savings onto my clients while still providing adequate contact and availability to my clients so they know what is going on in their cases.Wills and Trust practice: I am an associate with the Courtney Law Firm, serving Southwest Missouri in this area of the law for more than 30 years. Our firm can handle any estate planning issue that you may need. We offer a free consultation to determine the best solution for your legal needs at a fee less than larger firms that do similar type of work.Business Formation Documents: If you are starting a business and need legal advice call our office. I met Ted Tinsman through a Business Networking group and was able to get to know him on a business and personal level before I needed his expertise in legal matters. Ted is well spoken, caring, intelligent, and treats everyone with equal respect no matter if you are his biggest client or just someone asking a few legal questions and that is very important as a lot of attorneys value their time highly and if they do not see that they can make a great deal of money off of you they will blow you off. Ted will answer all your questions with care and respect and when I needed help with legal matters my first choice was easily Ted Tinsman and he exceeded my expectations. Ted specializes in Personal and Business Bankruptcy but with the size of his associated firm he can help with about any need that may arise.
Mr. Tinsman has helped us through not only a Chapter 13 Bankruptcy, but a conversion to Chapter 7 Bankruptcy, and has been very patient and professional with us. We had never done anything like this before, and he made it as simple and stress free as possible. We recommend him highly.
Ted addressed a few questions about options we had as a creditor dealing with a business that just declared Chap 7. His response came the same day I sent the query and was spot on. Great service.
Ted was an amazing lawyer. He was very admit to explain everything to me and worked with me when I couldn’t get certain paperwork to him. This was not an easy case for him, there were always curve balls but he prevailed and he continuously took care of me. When I’d cry in his office due to stress or at my meeting with my trustee, he didn’t hesitate to grab the tissues and push me to go on. He always made sure that what we did was in my best interest. And he was reasonable with the payment process. This is the very first lawyer I’ve ever had to hire myself and it went so well for me. I highly encourage you to use Ted to fill with for any of your bankruptcy needs. If I wouldn’t respond to an email, he’d be calling me a few hours later, to make sure I got the message. He would send me reminders for meeting and appointments. He even got a long well with my mom. He went through the process with me and told me what the best option was for me. You will not go wrong hiring Ted. He even assured me that at the age of 23, there are many people my age or younger that actually file for bankruptcy. And that was so reassuring for me.
As we looked for a lawyer, Ted was the only one who saw us without seeing a paralegal. He was very nice, upfront and confident in what he was doing. He made the whole process very easy and a breeze. He was prompt and very professional. He was also very reasonably priced. We enjoyed working with him and recommend him to anyone who is going through bankruptcy.
Ted has been very helpful the entire process of our bankruptcy. He knew exactly what was best for our complicated situation. With our bankruptcy, we have to keep in contact with Ted for the entire 5-7 years with any and everything we do that is not the normal monthly bills. Thankfully this is included in our bankruptcy fees because we have had lots of changes and questions about changes during this period and Ted was very quick to respond, always worked hard to work for us and get us what we wanted, and even when we gave him very short notice, he got it done. We are very pleased with the services we have received! I have heard lots of bad stories from friends with other lawyers, so we feel very blessed that we found Ted.
Honest and very thorough with our claim. He made us feel very comfortable through the whole process. Would highly recommend to other people.
I went to see Mr Tinson to het information on bankruptcy options. I was going through cancer for a 2nd time and knew that I would not be able to handle all the medical and living expenses this time around. I was still paying creditors for treatment 12 years prior. While he was very informative, the entire "free" consultation felt like a sham geared toward pressuring me into paying the $99 fee to begin filing. Even though I was not sure bankruptcy was the best option for me, after speaking with him I felt pressured railroaded into signing a contract and paid the initial $99 fee. I even received council from him to sell my employee stock to pay my nasi c bills and pay off the balance for legal fees. Mr. Tinsman advised me I should not file until after my cancer treatments were completed, which were not for another 6-10 months, yet I paid over $1,600, which they held onto for almost a year. The only calls/emails I received were from Mr. Tinsmans staff asking for my paperwork. Each time I would have to explain that, at the recommendation of Mr. Tinsman, I was waiting for all my medical issues to get resolved and could not fill out everything for them. When I started asking for a copy of my credit report I was either ignored, or told that I could view it when I came in for the final filling. After being put off for something I felt was a basic procedure, and with increasing feelings of unease, I decided to leave his firm. Then I started receiving several phone calls/emails from Mr. Tinsman and his staff pressuring me to stay, warning me of the dire circumstances of not filing, and basically feeling like I was being emotionally manipulated and bullied. When I finally put my foot down, I received hostile emails advising me he would be keeping almost 1/4 of the amount I had paid as "fair" for his services. What services?!? A handful of calls/emails asking me for my paperwork? One email exchange advising me to sell my employee stocks so I could pay rent, utilities and my legal fees? When I asked for a detailed invoice of what I was being charged for I was refused several times until I sent a formal email complaint to his partners, the BBB, and other legal protection agencies. I received a check for only a portion of my payments to his firm and a note to "never contact him again". Childish and unprofessional does not even begin to describe my experience with his firm. I do NOT recommend using Ted L. Tinsman or his firm for any legal services.
