In 1985, Mr. Hammel earned his degree in Bachelors of Science from the Marquette University College of Business. Subsequently, he was employed at the Continental National Bank of Chicago for one year. During law school, he clerked for the United States Army Judge Advocate Generals Office VII Corp, Munich Germany. In 1989, he received his Juris Doctor from the John Marshall School of Law in Chicago. After two years as a Will County Assistant Public Defender, he established Hammel Law Offices, P.C., in Joliet, Illinois. In 2005, he merged with Brumund & Jacobs, and subsequently worked extensively in the areas of criminal, traffic and DUI offenses. He is an annual instructor at the Will County Bar Association’s seminar regarding DUI and traffic offenses, and assisted in many prior ISBA seminars. In 2002, he became qualified to administer field sobriety testing in the State of Illinois, and has testified in many Will County Cases regarding the administration of field sobriety testing. I have no experience in the court system or acquiring an attorney, my friend recommend Mr Hammel, and I didn't think it was possible to go that far above and beyond my expectations. He worked with me where it was necessary and others wouldn't even consider it, the other firm had done work for my husband on a settlement, so they new us and still would do nothing till paid in full. We are on a fixed income due to my husband having a massive stroke, they made payment arrangements on the first visit. I didn't need an "in" He truly cares that people have the opportunity to good representation. Hebdid better than get the best case scenario for my daughter, everything was wiped clean!!! I can't thank him enough, you're crazy not to use this man
On September 1, 2013, I was in a single vehicle car accident in which I nearly died. Unfortunately, alcohol was involved and by the Grace of God, I did not hurt or injure anyone but myself. Approximatley one week after my accident my wife began receiving advertisements from many attorneys in the area claiming they could help me with my DUI charge. Mr. Hammel was the ONLY attorney that included a pamphlet with information about the Laws involving DUI convicitions. After our first court date, we called Mr. Hammel and he requested we come into his office that day. After only 30 minutes, Mr. Hammel had a plan on how he would represent me and present my case in court. After many court dates, thanks to Mr. Hammel's ingenious abilities, my case was dismissed in February 2014, only to be reopened in July 2014, which Mr. Hammel informed us in February could happen. On September 9, 2014, I was in court for my final court date, a bench trial. Mr. Hammel was more than prepared. He was calm and reassuring to myself and my wife. He conducted himself in court in a highly educated and intelligent fashion, with a retort for every question and/or statement presented by the prosecution. HIGHLY IMPRESSIVE! Mr. Hammel should be nominated "ATTORNEY OF THE YEAR!" I can NEVER repay him for what he has done for me and my family. His fees were more than fair, he was ALWAYS available for questions and/or concerns, and CONSISTENTLY kept us informed on each and every aspect of my case from day one! Thank you does not seem enough for what he has done for me, but, THANK YOU MR. HAMMEL!!!!
