The partner handling my case for Bishop Law Office brought Tawnia on board to handle a particular litigation appointment as well as collaborate with me for research involved in trial preparation. Her assignment to the case was a breath of fresh air and contributed greatly my conviction that every minutia of the case was treated as critically important. The particular hearing she handled went down like a season finale of Law and Order combined with the movie Training Day. I'm not kidding. Tawnia's "litigating" continued onto the front steps and parking lot of the court house with police everywhere and everything. She handled the situation with masterful aplomb and absolute commitment to her client and the case. Tawnia is definitely a lawyer you want on your case.
Let me start off by saying how much of a pleasure I had working with this firm. Tawnia was very knowledgeable and helped me through what I felt was a tough divorce. When I hired Tawnia I didn't know what to expect. If you consider hiring Tawnia, know you will be represented by someone who is knowledgeable, patient, easy to work with along with a team that will communicate thoroughly through your family law case. Feel confident that you're best interest will be priority.
Tawnia was extremely kind, sensitive (which really helped as these are very heartbreaking cases), and also very aggressive in fighting our case. She tried to help us any way she could. I would definitely recommend her to family and friends. She goes above and beyond expectations! And she really cares about her client. She is a very intelligent & empathetic lawyer who is also a very assertive and aggressive advocate for her clients.
Facing my divorce was an extremely scary and intimidating experience. I hired Ms. Wienke in the spring of 2011. She took the time to explain things and helped me through the most difficult time of my life. Ms. Wienke is extremely professional and was conscientious of my concerns. She was available to answer my questions and put my mind at ease. Divorce is a very emotional and difficult process, but I always felt like an individual who truly mattered. The entire staff was very warm and respectful. I knew that each statement, each concern, each question would be reviewed, discussed and handled starting with the amazing paralegals. The law firm is a team that had my best interests at heart. Tawnia Wienke always took the time to explain things, review the process each step of the way, and offer advice and kind words. No divorce is an easy one, and mine was far from simple. Tawnia offered many alternative suggestions to get through the process with my integrity intact. I have two precious little boys whom Tawnia always took into consideration and made a priority. She helped me to redirect my attention on what mattered when things seemed impossible to deal with. The divorce has changed my life in so many different ways. I am an individual with real concerns, with real fears, with real hurt. Having worked with Tawnia Wienke, I have come away with a better understanding of who I am, what is important in life and a respect for a lawyer that truly cares. I highly recommend Ms. Tawnia Wienke.
I hired Tawnia to help me win full custdoy of my son. She was extremely effective in planning the different options available to me as well as the benefits and drawbacks of different decisions. She succeeded in helping me she is very caring, and understand and she will fight for what you want.
I would not recommend Ms Wienke for anything other than simple settlement and doc prep. Beyond that I would highly advise against hiring her. Our case involved contentious litigation with an opposing attorney who was constantly making statements that were provably false. I had to raise the point with Ms Wienke that filing for strict rules of evidence would be helpful. As a member of the Bar I'd think this would have been an obvious choice, but Ms Wienke didn't mention it as an option. Once I brought it up, she acted enthusiastic and it did substantially reduce the craziness that came from opposing counsel, in my opinion. Why in the world is the client the one having to reminder of options in the law?! In the courtroom, my impression was that Ms Wienke was easily confused, easily thrown off by unexpected occurrences, and wasted time on subjects the judge had already said he refused to consider. Another tactic I later learned of that Ms Wienke failed to suggest was requesting findings of fact and conclusions of law. This could have significantly helped us, including in a potential appeal, but Ms Wienke didn't make any such recommendation. Once the order came from our evidentiary hearing, I noticed that the judge used a version of the law that had been replaced 2 years prior. I waited a week or so to see if she would mention it, but again I as the client had to be the one to point it out. Ms Wienke also seemed oblivious of appellate decisions from the last few years that would have helped us, including one that reminded that judges they are not allowed to arbitrarily restrict hearing time if requested to extend. Other than paperwork production, I felt most of the time as if I was crafting the legal strategy and she was a glorified paralegal. Not worth the money I was paying. All the sympathy in the world that she may show a client doesn't change my belief that I'd rather have a better lawyer...which is why we ended her representation after about a year. It also seems as though there was frequent turnover at her law office. Not sure what that was, but they went through several paralegals during the time she represented me.
