About

Based on 34 years of hands-on experience, Ms. Wuchinich has accumulated thorough knowledge of the Fair Labor Standards Act (i.e. Federal Minimum Wage and Overtime Statute), Veterans Benefits, Administrative Law, Appellate Law and Unemployment Compensation.  At present, she focuses on the needs of the unemployed, those with wage claims, and those who qualify for an uncontested divorce. She has, through representation and/or advice, helped many claimants win appeals, a sampling of which is contained in her AVVO listing.   Here are some comments from her clients on employment issues: "Ms. Susan,I wanted to express my gratitude for your efforts and dedication for my case. It was quite a long and upsetting process but  you were very generous regarding it. I am grateful to you that you took all the stress and restored everything out for me. Your faith, knowledge and determination were something that solves my worries. Thank you." "SUSAN THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!!! We won the appeal! I could not have done it without your help. Ms._____'s written decision was almost like being at the hearing again? verbatim . I believe she had her mind made up before we left the hearing. I am well pleased, once again, with the outcome. I am seriously looking into becoming a paralegal. Who knows where that may take me :)" "BLESS YOU! BLESS YOU! BLESS YOU....!" "God bless!" "Thank you, Ms. Susan, I couldn't have done it without ya" "Your quick read on the matters we discussed has been a great comfort to me!" " Received the decision yesterday - a resounding finding in our favor. I wanted to thank you for your help, especially since it was done without pay. I very much appreciate your care and concern - I couldn't have done it without you." "I cannot find the words to express my gratitude.I didn't think good people still existed in this gungle of a world.I know now that I won knowing someone with a big heart like yours and it means a lot to me..." "You were outstanding" " "Wooohooo got the determination in the mail and the examiner reversed the original decision and I'm qualified for benefits!!! Thank you so very much Susan, you were of great help preparing me and presenting my case. " "Thanks so much. I received a letter in the mail yesterday. I truly appreciate all that you have done. This wouldn't have been possible without your help. Now I'm able to breathe.  Once again thank you.  God bless." "I did receive a decision. We won. Thank you so much. Im in disbelief. I feel like I can breath and do my new job to the fullest. I may call you just to say this in person." "Thank you so much for your time and for caring and not just treating me like another case. Thank you for the information I appreciate it!" " While I  have not yet received a letter, my insomnia had its bright side this evening (it’s now nearly 3 am).  I was monitoring my checking account and joyfully noticed a $1575.00 VEC deposit, which I guess means they have approved my benefits, right?  Whew!  I think I will be able to go to sleep now." " Thank you so much Susan. I really appreciate all your help and patience." "I just wanted to thank you so much for all of your efforts in representing me in this case. Although I could't have dreamed up a nightmare of these sorts (in the past year), it is still very encouraging to have persons such as yourself that volunteer their time and expertise in cases such as mine. It is people such as you that help to renew my believe in the human spirit.  Regardless of the outcome, I wanted to take the time right now to say thank you very much.."  "This is AMAZING news! Could not have done it without you!  I really appreciate all your help." "Thank you so much!!!  I know it would not have happened without you!!!" "Thank you again for advising me on my Fact Finding Interview I had for my unemployment.  I had the fact finding interview on Wednesday, February 26. I just received their decision last week. I was found to be qualified for Unemployment.  Thank you again and have a great day! :)" "I have gotten the letter today saying my case got approved since they found I was doing my best and no warning....thank you Susan, I really appreciate your guidance with this matter! It made a world of a difference! Thank you! " "Amen!! Oh my goodness - I'm in shock! Thank you so so much!" "I just checked my mail and YES!! So happy to win but it was because of you and your help that made the difference for me. ""That is so great !!! Thank you so much !   Here are some client comments on uncontested divorce: "I went to Fairfax court and collected the certified final decree of divorce mam. Again I, my parents and my sister would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all your help""Ms. Wuchinich,Thank you very much.""Wow that is great!! Great!! Thank you so much Susan. I really appreciate all your help and patience. Please let me know if  you ever need any thing from me."  "Bonne Nouvelle !!! Un souci de moins ! Mlle Susan, merci beaucoup pour votre aide. J'en suis ravie. Merci beaucoup."

I had a fact-finding hearing to prove that I had quit my job with "good cause," in this case health reasons. It is very hard to win these cases, but Susan's guidance was both strategic and encouraging. I dug in deep, and had a solid interview. I submitted one final paper from my doctor at VEC's request and benefits were granted. A life-changing outcome. I'm very grateful and would recommend her without reservation.

Susan was extremely helpful to me in my unemployment claim in 2018. She helped me win my case when i thought that there was no hope. She is very dedicated to her clients and responds back to you within minutes. She is very warm and caring person. I am so glad that she represented me and I will recommend her to everyone I know.

I had a complicated case that required someone who genuinely focused their attention on the details. Susan was really nice and very focused.

I was referred to Attorney Susan Wuchinich when I applied through Legal Services of Northern Virginia for help with an Unemployment Appeal made by my former employer. Susan was well qualified and never made me feel inferior or without merit. She understood my position and showed warmth in helping me to prepare an outline of my workplace duties and to present my case clearly and concisely during my telephone appeal with VEC. I would highly recommend her for unemployment law cases as she has an extensive background in the legal arena and will prove to be a worthy opponent in making sure her clients receive a fair and equitable outcome for their respective case.

Susan was extremely helpful to me in my unemployment claim, taking the time to explain and even show me underlying case law and issues that were relevant to my claim. She has extensive knowledge and experience on Virginia Unemployment claims and the law. She is clearly an expert and I'd look to her immediately for any employment related legal issues.

I had a back injury from my time with the military and after I started a new job in the civilian world my injury started to cause me trouble and made it difficult for me to work. In fact my back pain was so bad, I was barely able to function when I wasn't at work. Numbness in my legs, sleepless nights and severe pain when I walked. I had no where to turn and I had no idea what to do. I thought about quitting but I figured that would make things worse. I did a search of employment lawyers in Northern VA and Washington D.C. and three of those lawyers gave me the name of Ms. Wuchinich. I called her and told her about my problem and she guided me through the process. In the end, my employer was not able to find another position that was suitable for me so they decided to write a mutual agreement to release me from my job. I filed for unemployment and after they reviewed all of the information they qualified me for benefits. You cannot imagine how much stress this situation was causing me. Ms. Wuchinich was easy to reach and gave me outstanding advice as I went through the entire process. She reviewed my documents and discussed the situation with me to make sure that I was doing the right thing. I talked to quite a few lawyers prior to this and no one would help me at all. Without a doubt I would recommend Susan Wuchinich to others because she was outstanding in every way.

I had a situation where I had to go through a "fact finding interview" to determine if I was eligible for unemployment insurance benefits after being laid off from a job. Ms. Wuchinich gave me sound advice and counseling, and provided me with a written document on guidance for the fact finding interview. Although she did not attend the fact finding telephone interview with me, her advice and encouragement provided me with the confidence to conduct the interview on my own and it had a successful outcome.

Due to Mrs. Wuchinich's excellent guidance, my original legal issue had been decided in my favor. The opposition then made an attempt to appeal the matter, making it necessary to defend. With this matter, Mrs. Wuchinich's assistance was just as helpful as before and also showed she cares enough to follow up and see these things through!

Due to complicated circumstances at my previous employment, my case with the VEC was difficult and required two appeal. Mrs. Wuchinich had a very solid understanding of the different aspects of the case and gave me clear guidance to win it. In addition to knowing exactly what steps to take, her explanation of how it actually worked allowed me to feel much more confident and comfortable when I had to testify during the hearing. As a result, I was able to win the case and I learned a lot during the process. I'd also like to add that Mrs. Wuchinich seemed very human and compassionate. I've worked with a lot of people in the past who are quite mechanical with their work, yet Mrs. Wuchinich was extremely pleasant, patient with me, and quick to respond to all of my questions.
