Stuart R. Berg of Gardern City, NY had me sign a non-refundable retainer agreement to perform work related to my mother's death. Upon further investigation it turns out that non-refundable retainer agreements are impermissible under New York State law. Upon finding this out I contacted Mr. Berg repeatedly for a refund. He ignored my requests for a refund of my retainer and I had to take him to small claims court where he was admonished for making me sign the retainer and I was awarded a refund.

He was hired to handle my divorce, until I switched lawyers because his paperwork was so poorly written and filled with errors. My ex-husband and his lawyer were sorry to see Mr. Berg go because they knew how bad his work was (as stated to my replacement lawyer after the divorce was finalized).
