About
Steven Leibel has been practicing law since his graduation from Emory Law School in 1980. Best known for winning the highest jury verdict in Georgia history — $776 million in a wrongful death lawsuit arising from the tragic murder of the Sheriff-elect of Dekalb County, Georgia— Mr. Leibel has also been named a SuperLawyer for five consecutive years by his peers. In 1988, Mr. Leibel began representing individuals in serious personal injury, medical malpractice, and wrongful death cases. His successes include recovering extensive damages for the death of a high school student whose pneumonia was misdiagnosed; receiving a record recovery in a case involving a neurosurgeon who performed unnecessary back surgery, debilitating a client; resolving the death of an unborn infant due to medical malpractice; receiving extensive damages for the family of an elderly gentleman who died in an assisted living facility due to negligence; resolving a tractor-trailer accident which caused traumatic brain injury to a young adult. An active member in the community, Mr. Leibel has served as a Municipal Court Judge. He is a member of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, the Atlanta Lawyers Club, The Forsyth County Bar Association, and The Enotah Circuit Bar Association. In addition, Mr. Leibel is a graduate of both Leadership Sandy Springs and Leadership Lumpkin County, and served as a Commission Member of The Brain & Spinal Injury Trust Fund for the State of Georgia.He is Vice Chair of the board of The Foothills Community Bank, and serves on the State Bar of Georgia Board of Governors. Mr. Leibel is admitted to both the Georgia and District of Columbia Bar. He has lectured at the State Bar Association Annual Update Seminar, and is a member of the University of North Georgia Business Advisory Council. He is a lecturer on Trial Techniques at Emory University School of Law, and has previously taught Leadership at North Georgia College and State University.Mr. Leibel graduated from the renowned Bronx High School of Science with Merit in 1973. He received his undergraduate degree summa cum laude from Queens College of the City University of New York in 1977. He then completed Emory Law School, where he was elected President of the Emory International Law Society. In 1986, Mr. Leibel graduated first in his class from the North Central Police Academy at West Georgia College. He has served as legal advisor to many police chiefs and sheriffs, and acted as a sheriff's deputy and police officer from 1986 to 2000. Mr. Leibel writes expert columns for My Forsyth Magazine and is a guest host on WGST AM 640 Radio in Atlanta. Mr. Leibel is a Certified TrustDale Personal Injury Attorney, a Georgia SuperLawyer, and an AV Pre-Eminent rated lawyer.

Our situation was a very sensitive case because my minor son was injured . Mr. Leibel was so sensitive to my son's feelings. He really listened to his wants and needs. He was NOT greedy and never tried to push him into something just to get a bigger settlement . He does shoot straight from the hip and lets you know exactly where you stand. We never had to worry that things were being sugar coated. This man has a heart and really does care about the well being of his client!!! He even sat down after case was settled and told my son how proud he was of him and his come back. I hope I never need his services again but if I do I have know doubt who I would call!!! GREAT , CARING attorney ! One in a million!
