I enjoy solving problems involving complex tax issues. I regularly advise individuals, businesses, and nonprofit organizations on a broad range of tax planning and litigation matters. My work in the estate planning area includes revocable and irrevocable trusts, foreign trusts, grantor retained annuity trusts, charitable split-interest trusts, asset protection, and business succession planning.  I am regularly called upon to help modify existing trusts through decanting or reformation. My tax experience includes negotiating disputes with the IRS, applying for private letter rulings, drafting partnership and LLC operating agreements, analyzing withholding and reporting obligations, and dealing with state and local tax matters. I regularly advise clients on the tax treatment of settlements and litigation recoveries.  Last but not least, I enjoy forming and advising non-profit organizations. My work includes obtaining and maintaining tax-exempt status, avoiding or minimizing unrelated business taxable income, and helping the officers and directors of these organizations safely navigate the many tax related restrictions on their activities.
