Steven M. Cerny is a partner at Santi Cerny, PLLC, in Minneapolis. Steve’s practice focuses on both litigation and counseling on employment law and business law matters. His practice covers virtually every type of employment-related case, including discrimination, sexual harassment, wage and hour, overtime, misclassification, non-competition, non-solicitation, medical leave, trade secrets, and other employment claims in state and federal court. Steve also represents clients in member and shareholder disputes, and contract disputes. Steve has a unique focus in handling matters that involve temporary restraining orders.Steve works closely with business owners and human resource professionals providing counsel in every aspect of the employment relationship, on compliance with local, state, and federal laws, and on taking preventative measures to minimize the risk of litigation. Steve has conducted internal corporate investigations and conducts training for managers and human resource professionals. Steve acts as outside general counsel and litigation counsel for clients in a broad range of industries, including manufacturing, printing, information technology, health care, retail, service firms, lodging, transportation, and restaurant and food service.Steve graduated from William Mitchell College of Law with honors, served as an Assistant Editor of the William Mitchell Law Review, and participated in moot court where he won regional and national awards. Steve has since taught at Mitchell Hamline School of Law as an Adjunct Professor. Steve has been recognized by Super Lawyers® as a Rising Star for the past eight years, a designation awarded to no more than 2.5% of attorneys.
