I contacted Steven for a consult for my daughter. He was in court but returned my call very quickly. He was able to answer all of my questions over the phone and even emailed me some information I would need. Although I didn't need to hire him at this time he was up front about his cost and what he would recommend that my daughter do.
Calm and professional, no grandstanding, just solid advice. First time in a courtroom and looking like the deck was stacked against me. Got the case dismissed before it got started. Thanks for the advice and great outcome, one in a thousand I hear!
Steve was very supportive, compassionate, knowledgeable and was able to get my charges reduced drastically. He sticks up for you like a middle finger! I highly recommend him to anyone going through a court case in his expertise area.
When charged with a life changing domestic violence felony I knew finding the right lawyer was a huge decision and very important. Steves background as a prosecutor led me to him. He knows the tactics they use and can form a great defense argument. Following his every request and decision gave the best outcome of my jury trial. Not Guilty of DV Aggravated Assault. Choosing Steve would be a great choice to defend DV related charges. I couldn't be happier with the outcome of my case and how Steve handled everything.
Steven burton Representing me very well and amazing lawyer defensive lawyer if you’re ever in trouble he is the one that you need to have representation from didn’t excellent job I can say is five star five star rating
Let me start off by saying that I worked as an assistant for Steve when he was fresh out of law school working as a prosecutor. He was so intelligent from the beginning. The Court staff used to tease him and tell him that he needed to go into defense work because he was always wanting to look at everything with an open mind and evaluate the case as a whole, and wanting to look as people and their situations as a whole, where prosecutors didn't necessarily do that because it wasn't their job to do so. From day one, Steve wanted to do what was right, not what he was "supposed" to do in his job description. Luckily, he followed the path his friends admitted he was destined for and he is the best defense counselor to have on your side, because he sees every person as a person, and not as a number on a case file. My story began when I was arrested for domestic violence against my estranged husband, a police officer, for slapping him... Although, admittedly, that's not the whole story, but that's where my domestic violence charge came from. Going up against the police "brotherhood" is not an easy task, and take a guess who comes our ahead. Long story short, it was a mutual DV situation (instigation/defense) and I chose to not to inform the responding police of his involvement in fear that he would lose his P.O.S.T. certificate and his ability to continue to be a police officer, as he held the insurance on our family, and at the time, he was the stable income for our family. I was arrested and took the hit of the situation that night. Of course, Steve was the ONLY one I trusted to take my case. At the time, I had worked for attorneys for 9 years and I knew very well that he was THE best. Although I had gone to the police department the following day to have my injuries photographed and documented to prove that the incident was not a one-sided domestic incident, they chose to disregard it. Again, I do believe it had something to do with the fact that my husband was a police officer. The stress following the incident was unbearable. Having working in the justice system for so many years, I was so embarrassed to be on the "other side". I was terrified, frustrated that I covered for my husband so he could keep his job just to end up with trouble in mine, etc. After just a few months when my court date finally came, with Steve's knowledge and expertise, he was able to get me a plea in abeyance that was absolutely unheard of! He argued my case so well that it enabled me to minimize my record enough to continue working in the justice system, doing what I love. He literally empathized with every roadblock we ran into and I wouldn't even be able to begin to guess the hours he put into ensuring I had the best outcome possible. Words cannot describe the respect I have for Steve. I have known him for almost 12 years and I literally cannot say that there is a dishonest bone in his body. He is ridiculously intelligent, doesn't back down, fights for what he knows is right, and has one of the purest hearts of any person you will ever meet. (Although, don't fu*k with him). Thanks, Steve. I owe you big time!
I've had the pleasure of interacting with Steve twice now. Once as a client and once as an intermediary for a relative. He is extremely professional, very responsive and clearly has in-depth knowledge of the legal system. The best thing about him, however, is his ability to explain the situation to you in a clear and calming manner. With Steve, you truly have a powerful advocate on your side.
I was wrongfully accused of a felony crime and i felt like my life turned upside down. Just a accusation made my life hell for about 4 months. I approached Steven as soon as i received a call from the detective. He sat down with me and explained everything. I would freak out about not hearing about my case in a while and would call Steven. He would simply calm me down and explain the situation to me. Today, I found out that the DA office has declined the case and i have never been happier. Steven guided me through this miserable process and was by my side the entire time. I can't thank him enough.
Steve was very honest, yet aggressive and really works hard for your defense. I recommend calling him immediately if you find yourself in need of legal defense! I rate him 5/5 stars!!
I recently contacted Mr. Burton regarding a case where my son has been wrongfully accused of two felony offenses and two Class A Misdemeanors to get his opinion on I whether we made the right decision by accepting a plea bargain that reduced the charges to one Class A and two Class B Misdemeanors rather than going to trial. Unfortunately, we did not realize that in order to withdraw his guilty plea it had to be done within 30 days of accepting the plea. After realizing that he could not help us, he continued to answer my questions and tried to put a worried mothers mind at ease. I was so impressed by Mr. Burton's professionalism and candor that I would highly recommend anyone that is need of a criminal attorney make him their first phone call.
