About

Sam Short is a native of Lawrence County and a graduate of Lawrence County High School.  After high school, Sam entered the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and joined the Volunteer family as a freshman.  After four years of study, he graduated cum laude with a degree in Political Science and History and membership in the Golden Key International Honour Society, Phi Eta Sigma, National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Alpha Lambda, and Phi Sigma Theta academic societies. Upon the completion of his undergraduate degree, Sam remained in Knoxville following his acceptance at the University of Tennessee College of Law.  While at UT Law, Sam pursued a concentration in advocacy and dispute resolution and was fortunate enough to take trial practice and advanced trial practice courses taught by prominent members of the Knoxville Bar.  In his second year, Sam served as a student attorney in UT’s Innocence and Wrongful Convictions Clinic.  During the course of that year, he gained experience practicing advanced appellate criminal advocacy, which included briefing to the Court of Criminal Appeals on behalf of two previously convicted clients and performing an oral argument in front of the same court in dispute of a first-degree murder conviction.Following his graduation in May of 2016 and his successful entry into the Tennessee Bar Association, Sam joined the Batson Nolan team and began practicing law as an Associate Attorney in Clarksville.
