About
Born and raised in Pensacola, Steve Shell received his Bachelor of Arts degree with honors from Vanderbilt University in 1982, and his law degree from the University of Florida in 1984. He immediately joined Shell, Fleming, Davis & Menge upon his graduation from law school, and commenced the practice of law upon his admission to the Florida Bar in May of 1985. He is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court, Northern District of Florida, and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. Steve is Board Certified by the Florida Bar in the specialty of real estate law, and practices primarily in the areas of real estate transactions and development, condominium law, eminent domain, business and commercial law, and wills and estates. He regularly counsels and represents corporate and business clients in all types of business matters. In the real estate field, Steve has represented lenders, developers, builders and property owners in an array of matters including subdivision and commercial development, condominium development, residential and commercial closings, and various other real property matters. He is an agent for Attorneys Title Insurance Fund, Inc., First American Title Insurance Company, American Pioneer Title Insurance Company and Chicago Title Insurance Company. Both as an attorney and outside of the legal profession, Steve is very involved in church, charitable and community affairs. He is an active member of First Baptist Church, where he serves as a Sunday School teacher and a deacon. He advises or serves on the boards of several charitable and civic organizations, including First City Sports Council, Ronald McDonald House, Hospice of Northwest Florida, Inc. (Chairman of the Board for 1998), Baptist Health Ventures, Inc. (Chairman), Baptist Healthcare, Inc., the Pensacola Area Chamber of Commerce (Executive Committee and legal counsel for 1999-2001), and the Waterfront Rescue Mission. He is a past board member and officer of the Escambia/Santa Rosa Bar Association, and has served on various committees of the local association. He is a member of Five Flags Sertoma Club. Steve is a graduate of the 1993-94 class of Leadership Pensacola, a leadership organization sponsored by the Pensacola Area Chamber of Commerce. Steve and his wife, Kyle, have three children, Jonathan, Jefferson and Caroline. Steve is an avid (though mediocre) golfer, and he and his family enjoy all types of outdoor activities and water sports.
