Steve brags a lot, and when he brags he tends to disclose sensitive information about previous clients. That's the first thing you should know. While Steve was supposedly representing me, he repeatedly failed to provide or request critical information. A lot of things fell through the cracks because he failed to familiarize himself with many basic details of my case. Instead, he relied on sheer egotism and "reputation" to carry the day. I finally got a grasp of what was going on when I hired another lawyer. It became obvious why Steve refused repeated requests for court transcripts and basic updates. Opposing counsel was running circles around him. She made some flagrant misrepresentations which he was unable to refute. (For instance, she claimed I was living in a penthouse condominium. I was living in a studio apartment in a medium-income neighborhood, and he had a copy of my lease as well as a domestic relations affidavit detailing all my living expenses and assets.) She got a lot of leverage out of that and similar claims even though he had documentation that could have disproved them. He was simply not familiar with the essential details of my case, and as a result of his slipshod work ethic I was taken advantage of and incurred thousands in unnecessary legal fees.
