About

Stephanie is an attorney licensed to practice law in the state of Washington. She graduated from Seattle University School of Law in 2001 and was honored twice with the law school’s Trustees’ Scholarship.Prior to law school, Stephanie earned a bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy from the University of Puget Sound. For more than a decade as an occupational therapist, Stephanie worked with adults with physical and mental disabilities, both in long-term care and home-health settings. While fighting for her patients’ healthcare benefits, she discovered how the power and right use of law can protect the most vulnerable individuals. It was this revelation that inspired her to embark upon her legal career. Her long history of community volunteerism includes serving as a court-appointed special advocate for foster children, for which Stephanie was acknowledged as one of Pierce County’s “Volunteers of the Year.” She has also served as a team coordinator for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society fundraising events and for the annual Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk.Stephanie is an active member of the Washington State Bar Association and the King County Bar Association, and has presented continuing education to fellow attorneys on legal advocacy for elders and other vulnerable adults. She is also a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and the Washington Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. And, most importantly, she is the proud mother of Kyle and daughter-in-law Alex, both of whom bring great joy and purpose to Stephanie’s life.About Compassionate Legal CareOur firm provides caring, compassionate legal services with a focus on Wills, Powers of Attorney, Estate Planning, Guardianship issues, and Elder Law. Stephanie and her team helped our elderly parents navigate the estate planning process with ease. She provided professional guidance to our family in consideration of Medicaid, a reverse mortgage, and veterans' benefits -- all very daunting tasks for the "Regular Joe". Her company is so aptly named because her compassion shone through at every step of the way -- including coming to our parents' home for meetings and signings, and visiting our father while he was in hospice. Without Stephanie and her team, our family would not have been as prepared as we were for essential legal decisions at the end of our father's life. For my sisters and myself, it was truly a gift that my parents had the foresight to plan and that we found Stephanie to be the one to make those plans happen. To our family, she is a true professional with a big heart and we are so very grateful.

Stephanie is a truly compassionate lawyer. She listens to her clients and goes out of her way to fulfill their wishes. She is fun to work with, and very good at explaining all of the intricacies of estate planning and making it understandable. We really enjoyed working with Stephanie, and found the whole process to be very painless. She is a genuinely kind and caring person, and that comes out in her work.

Ms Haslam came to our home (we are seniors) to write our new wills. We had met her previously to give her the basics & she brought complete, professional documents to our home to be reviewed, signed by us, with our neighbors as witnesses.

I was in a quandary about changing my will. This was because I'd had significant changes in my fiances, property holdings, and beneficiaries. Stephanie was completely easy to talk with. What before was a daunting task became a shared enterprise. I felt empowered by her, and am more than satisfied with my new will.

She did a wonderful job for me in preparing my will and going through various edits to get what I really wanted clarified and into legal terms.

I didn't want to deal with a power of attorney, or a will, but I had to. Stephanie made it easy. And when it was hard, it was clear that she cared about my issues. I found her extremely approachable, thoughtful, and willing to work with my atypical needs. I'm so pleased to have found her, and would recommend her without reservation.
