About
I provide disciplined, effective, and timely family law and marriage dissolution services to high net worth, professional clients. My typical client has given careful and proper consideration to the current marriage and has decided that personal, professional, and/or emotional costs of maintaining that marriage are too high to pay. He or she has decided that moving forward promises the best chance for creating or maintaining an empowered, authentic, and rewarding life. My job is to assist with fair property division, with forming the proper parental alliances and plans to ensure the welfare of children, and to secure proper court orders to help shape the future of the family after marriage. For a flat fee, I will initiate proceedings and prepare all initial filings necessary for the dissolution of marriage and for custody and child support orders. This rate includes one 30-minute initial conference between me and the client; one two-hour meeting with the client, cooperating spouse, and cooperating opposing counsel to coordinate exchange and/or preparation of required documentation (if necessary); and two one-hour court appearances and round trip travel to and from such appearances (if necessary). Services must commence at the conclusion of the initial conference and requested documentation must be provided within one week of request. Timely client cooperation is required. All services must be completed within four months of the execution date of the retainer agreement. Any and all additional work (if necessary and agreed upon) will be billed at an hourly rate.I work only on matters to be filed and concluded in Los Angeles County Superior Court and only with clients who are willing to pay for services. I require full and timely client cooperation, order, civility, and strict time limits for the resolution of services. Please note that I work only with clients who are self-disciplined and willfully moving forward to embrace life after marriage. I do not tolerate stalking, passive-aggressive stall tactics, or unproductive, endless, and costly interventions. My fee is designed to save time, money, and sanity for all parties involved. To that end, I work with both parties to the marriage. Therefore, both parties must waive all legal conflicts of interest. If at the end of the four-month term of our contract there are matters still left to be decided by the typical and costly adversary process, then both clients will have to secure new counsel and pay new counsel accordingly for those adversarial services. My background -- I earned my Bachelor's degree in English Literature from Barnard College in 1986. After working as a domestic policy aide to The Honorable John H. Glenn, United States Senator (D-OH), I attended the UCLA School of Law. During law school, I externed and later clerked for the Honorable Terry Hatter, Jr., United States Federal Judge, Central District of California, in Los Angeles. I also clerked for the Honorable Consuelo B. Marshall, United States Federal Judge, Central District of California, in Los Angeles and later worked as a deputy federal public defender, representing the indigent accused.
