I earned a BA in Philosophy from the University at North Carolina at Greensboro and is a member of the national Phi Sigma Tau Honor Society in Philosophy. I also received the Japanese Ministry of Education and Association of International Education Scholarship Award to study Japanese language at Nagoya University in Japan for one year and is certified proficient at the intermediate level.Before attending law school, Simon spent some time at Guilford Technical Community College in the Paralegal Program. During that time I interned at the Superior Court Judge’s Chambers where I assisted Judge Eagles and Judge Davis in various administrative tasks and the occasional MAR review.While attending law school, I was a volunteer teacher for the Street Law Program (teaching public school students about the legal system and current issues), Volunteer Income Tax Assistant (providing tax filing assistance to low income families), Latin American Coalition Volunteer (providing immigration assistance) and founding member and Secretary of the Arab-American Law Society. He also interned for two semesters with the Mecklenburg County Public Defender representing indigent client with various misdemeanor charges. I have completed over 130 hours in pro bono and volunteer service while maintaining a high GPA and graduating cum laude
