Shawn R. Romano, Esq. is the founding member of the law firm of Romano & Associates, PLLC, in Charleston, West Virginia. Mr. Romano was born in Clarksburg, and grew up in Morgantown. Mr. Romano went to college at Wheeling Jesuit College in Wheeling, graduating in 1992, with a bachelor’s of science degree in Accounting. He then attended law school at West Virginia University, where he was awarded a law degree in 1997, having served as the Law Review’s Executive Editor for Articles.Mr. Romano’s legal practice areas include civil litigation on behalf of individuals, small business litigation, insurance law on behalf of insured individuals and taxation matters on behalf of taxpayers. He regularly represents individuals and businesses before West Virginia’s Circuit Courts, the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals, the United States District and Bankruptcy Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of West Virginia as well as the Office of Tax Appeals, the Department of Labor, the State Tax Department, and the Unemployment Compensation Commission.Mr. Romano is a member of the American Bar Association, the John A. Field American Inn of Court, the West Virginia State Bar, the Kanawha County Bar Association, the American Association for Justice, the West Virginia Association for Justice, and the Saint Thomas More Society. Mr. Romano serves on the West Virginia State Bar’s Taxation Committee, the West Virginia Association for Justice’s Board of Governors, the West Virginia Child Advocacy Network’s Board of Directors and the West Virginia Fund for the Arts’ Board of Directors and Executive Committee. In the past he has also served on the American Bar Association’s Advisory Panel and the Arts Council of Kanawha Valley’s Board.Mr. Romano is a proud member of the Charleston Area Alliance, Kanawha Valley Chapter of Trout Unlimited, the West Virginia Rivers Coalition, the Sierra Club, the West Virginia Sportsman’s Association, and is a 2010 graduate of the Leadership Kanawha Valley program.Mr. Romano volunteers his time to many groups and organizations including providing pro bono legal services to the underprivileged, serving on the previously mentioned legal and community Boards and Panels, donates his time and financial support to those same groups, and for the past six years has opened his law offices monthly as an art gallery to support local artists present their work as a part of Charleston’s ArtWalk. Mr. Romano gives back to the community by financially supporting numerous charitable organizations and outreach programs throughout the area.
