I contacted Ms. Mercer because I divorced 2.5 years ago and have been extremely angry ever since because I couldn't tell if my settlement (alimony, child support) was fair, or if I'd been taken for a ride. Ms. Mercer looked through my documents, assessed my situation, and let me know that my settlement was appropriate and actually favorable towards me. HALLELUJAH!!! In one calm, compassionate conversation, Ms. Mercer relieved my concerns and essentially freed me from anger. If only I had had her as my attorney when I divorced, I would never have been in this angry torment, not knowing or understanding my situation. I highly recommend Ms. Mercer. She listens, she is honest, she does not give you the run around in any way, or insist on wasting your time with tutorials on the legal system. Logistically, I was able to call for an appointment, send over my documents the same day, and meet with her the very next day: they have outstanding support in the office, which is important because it truly affects your access to the firm and can be extremely frustrating (off-putting) when the assistants are inept. To be clear, I called 7 other lawyers (all of whom were referred to me by friends or colleagues), and none of them was helpful, timely, or frankly personable. Another lawyer required I waste $560 on an hour long session where she was just going to teach me about the NC legal system, before even asking me why I wanted a lawyer? Another office I called, the assistant kept me on the phone for 14 minutes (not on wait, but ON THE PHONE) while trying to make arrangements, forgot my name and why I was calling twice. For many people, just picking up the phone to call a lawyer is an enormously emotional action. You want someone on the line who understands that you are calling for a very good, very personal reason. Both the assistants and Ms. Mercer get that. Talking with Ms. Mercer, I broke into tears because it was the first time in all of the legal proceedings that I actually felt heard, seen, and acknowledged. Life is hard enough and legal proceedings are inherently sad and potentially dramatic; you want someone by your side that you can trust, who listens and will actually communicate with you. Save yourself years of anger and frustration: work with Ms. Mercer from the very start. I am so incredibly glad I found her!

Ms. Mercer is amazing. She did not lost my time. She was fighting my demotic violence restraining Order. She assured me that I am going to be OK in the court. She was successful to do so. She is best in town

Shaunis always had my best interest at heart. She would fight for me. She always had time for me and never rushed me.

Shaunis was amazing. As a male I was worried about the getting run over by what my ex wanted. She was amazing, listened to my story, took it to heart, stood up for me and the rights for my kids and wanted to put the kids first. Hands down excellent, made the process painless.

Brilliant representation. As a father, going through a nasty divorce is an uphill fight to get what is in the best interests of your kids. You need to put your best foot forward; so get the best attorney. Absolutely phenomenal service, walked me through the entire process, able to withstand my whole spectrum of mood swings; in the end, I got everything I wanted!!! Oh, and if you wish to see your opposition completely blown away by a whirlwind cross-examination, you need this lawyer!

Having Ms. Mercer as my child custody attorney was an excellent experience. Going through a divorce is a very hard thing to go through. Ms. Mercer worked hard for what was not only best for me, but my kids as well. Previous attorneys often would refer to my kids as some sort of collateral or pawns during the divorce.
