Sharon Stein was an Editor of Law Review at Rutgers Law School from which she graduated in 1980.For more than thirty years Ms. Stein has been advising and representing clients in all aspects of matrimonial law in both the trial and appellate levels. Prior to starting her own firm she had been a matrimonial partner at the prominent New York law firm, Squadron, Ellenoff & Plesent now merged with Hogan Lovells LLP.For the past 25 years, Ms. Stein has received Martindale Hubbell’s coveted AV rating signifying preeminent legal ability and the highest ethical standards.In 2014 Ms. Stein was selected as one of the New York areas Top Rated Lawyers by ALM, publishers of Legal Media, and as one of the Women Leaders in the Law by the National Law Journal.In 2014 she was once again selected to Super Lawyers. Ms. Stein has lectured to the American Bar Association about how to successfully start a matrimonial law practice. She also lectured to the New York State Bar, Family Law Section on recent developments in child support and equitable distribution of marital property.Articles discussing Ms. Stein's cutting edge cases have appeared on the front page of the New York Law Journal,  and the 23 page post trial decision in Hearst v. Hearst ( the grandson of William Randolph Hearst ) where she was lead counsel and prevailed on every major issue for her client, was printed in its entirety in the New York Law Journal.In 2012, in recognition of her litigation skills, Ms.Stein was invited to judge a moot court competition at Yale University.In 2012, she co-authored an expert analysis featured on the front page of the New York Law Journal about how a divorce affects children with special needs.  Ms. Stein has been appointed by the Court to be the attorney for the child in a very complicated and contentious child custody case.Ms. Stein’s professional memberships have included membership in the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers; the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, Matrimonial Law Sub-Committee; the New York State Bar Association, Family Law Section; and the New York County Lawyers Association, where she served on the Legislation Sub-Committee, as well as on the Executive Committee.
