About

I have been the Immigration Law Director for the New York Regional Immigration Assistance Center, Region 2, for the past two years, practicing exclusively in the area of "crimmigration," providing advice to criminal and family law attorneys about the immigration consequences of criminal arrests/convictions for their noncitizen clients.  I have also conducted numerous and extensive trainings not only to attorneys, but also to Judges at all levels within the NY state judicial system.  "Crimmigration" is a specialized area within the field of Immigration Law, and is rapidly evolving, as the consequences of even an arrest become increasingly adverse for those who are not U.S. citizens.  Contact me if you are a noncitizen defendant facing criminal charges, a Respondent in a Family Court matter, or if you are an attorney representing either who needs proper immigration advice.

Sharon is a valuable member of our immigration legal community. I have sought Sharon’s advice on a number of immigration cases and her guidance was instrumental in obtaining successful outcomes for my clients. Sharon’s experience and solid knowledge of the law, coupled with her sharp personality makes her an excellent counselor. I strongly recommend her to anyone seeking an immigration attorney.

Sharon did a great job with my K1 Visa application. A usual 6 month process was completed in 3 months. Sharon is very detailed and organized. I would recommend her for anyone in need of an experienced Immigration Lawyer.

Sharon worked with me and my wife all the way from our journey from Germany to the USA, through our marriage, my wife's permanent resident application, and finally my wife's US citizenship. She has been wonderful throughout the entire process, answering all of our questions and helping us navigate the sometimes complicated immigration and naturalization laws. Thanks to Sharon's knowledge and experience my wife received her permanent resident status in less than 3 months from the time of application. Most recently, she helped us immensely during my recent deployment overseas with the finalization of my wife's N400 application and her interview. Now my wife is a US citizen! Sharon knows what she is doing and thanks to her the whole process felt almost effortless.

Our company engaged Ms. Ames to help us apply for US work visas, specifically an H1B for one of our Canadian sales managers and an L1A for myself, the company's President (also Canadian). Ms. Ames helped us to understand the various categories of visa that we could consider for each candidate and helped us to choose the most appropriate categories. The application processes were long and very detailed. In both instances there were also RFEs (requests for further evidence) and again Ms. Ames helped us understand the process and worked patiently with members of our team to draw out and assemble the data required to satisfy the requests. Even now, as our company expands and our manager moves across the US opening new operations for us, Ms. Ames stays on top of us to ensure we file the appropriate amendments and forms to maintain compliance with the requirements of his visa. Ms. Ames' fees were very fair and despite the fact that we were hundreds of KMs (CDN version of miles!) away we always felt that our interests were extremely well represented and that we could have absolute trust in Ms. Ames advice and integrity. Finally, I should mention that Ms. Ames is a real pleasure to work with and someone we are pleased to have met and hope to continue to have a relationship with. We have worked with many lawyers and I have enjoyed working with Ms. Ames more than any other lawyer who has represented us. I would recommend Ms. Ames to any friend, family member or business associate without equivocation.
