About

At the most fundamental level the practice of law is about problem solving. Shannon’s clients generally don’t come to her when things are going great in their lives and she is mindful of that. She understands you are looking to her for guidance and support through some of the most difficult challenges you will face, and that is a responsibility she takes very seriously.Shannon knows no two cases are the same and she enjoys figuring out how to approach each case to get you the best possible outcome. No matter the situation, Shannon prides herself on being upfront, and she refuses to simply tell clients what she thinks they want to hear. She often tells her clients: “I won’t try to sell you the moon and the stars,” meaning she will deliver honest, upfront advice in a way that’s easy to understand.Shannon was born and raised in Colorado and moved to Kansas City to attend the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law where she has a lot of extended family close by. Shannon joined The Gordon Law Firm in 2014, and is a partner with her husband, Robert. While many people tell her they think it would be hard to work with their spouse, she admits they enjoy the challenge. When not working, Shannon enjoys spending time with their young son, cooking, DIY projects and playing with their two dogs.

From the beginning Shannon has been extremely professional and has laid out realistic expectations for my situation. Never any empty promises, and all communication has been thorough, prompt, and upfront. Great attitude, and I will always come back to her, or anyone at her firm!

The Gordon Law Firm has been a pleasure to deal with. I have used their services several times in the past few years dealing with child custody. They listen to what you want, they tell you what to expect and they aggressively, professionally move towards their goal in your case. These folks are great at their job and way they handle their cases. They more than have my recommendation. Thank you Gordon Law for all the great help. I will always use your services when called for and refer you to anyone that is in need of the services you provide.

I highly recommend Shannon. She cares about your questions and concerns-- even when you have too many-- and takes the time to explain and provide you clear, upfront answers. I've really appreciated that she is generally very easy to get a hold of, and, if not, has friendly and kind staff like her paralegal Samantha that have also been so helpful. Shannon has been thorough, knowledgeable, and approachable. She reads people/situations well and knows who responds better with sensitive responses vs blunt ones, but even when having to be blunt she does so in a way where you can tell she just truly cares rather than for the sake of authoritarianism. Shannon works well with others and has a good reputation, but she's also not afraid to be firm and fight for you if needed. Thank you, Shannon, for standing up for those that have a hard time doing so for themselves!

Shannon has been my attorney since 2013. During this time she has helped me through a nasty divorce, and 2 custody modifications. Shannon has been awesome through it all. She has been a wonderful advocate for myself and my children. I would definitely recommend her.

Shannon is extremely knowledgeable, but also caring. She made sure I was informed and explained every step of the process. I would never hire a different lawyer.

From day one I knew I wanted Shannon as my child custody lawyer. She took my case which was a rather controversial one without meeting me in person as I live in a state that doesn’t have jurisdiction over my case. I was given honesty and she was always upfront with me which I loved. If you want someone to fight for you and put your best interest at heart, hire Shannon and the Gordon Law Firm. She is experienced and thorough and all the staff is very friendly and respectful. You will not be put on the back burner and you will get realistic outcomes! I can’t say enough wonderful things about my experience !

She did perform SOME work on my case, however, she refused to perform ANY research with regard to a real estate document. She insisted that her interpretation (that I waived my interest in the property) was the ONLY interpretation and she refused to discuss with me the possibility that she was incorrect, as she had stated she had never seen this document before. EVERY single conversation we had reverted to her focusing on the "waiver". In the meantime I discovered the true meaning of the "waiver", however she would not entertain my interpretation. Instead, she approached the judge the day prior to my trial and I believe indicated to him that we had a difference of opinion on the document and that she would be withdrawing. She left me in a horrible position. I had paid her over $7,000 at that point. She failed to obtain discovery from the Respondent re: financial issues and I was blindsided with marital debt that he had accumulated in the year (plus) we had been separated. She returned $5,000 to me ONLY after she withdrew and I was unable to secure other counsel. She was a friend and colleague. My concern is that if she would treat a "friend" who is also a practicing attorney in the area this way.... what kind of representation is she providing to the unknowing client off the street?
