About
What drew me to Family Law is as complex as the reasons for which people find themselves in need of it. But one thing was simple and clear to me: Families need support in emotionally trying times. And Family Law is often at the intersection of those times and the lives of people who must find their way through them.I understand that the mere necessity of engaging a lawyer often represents an emotional upheaval in my clients’ lives – the unraveling of a marriage, the victimization of an abusive relationship, the stress of a contested will. I do everything in my power to guide you through the process as peaceably and reasonably as possible so that you can pick up your life and move on.I expect nothing less of anyone associated with or acting on behalf of my firm.

Scott helped me with my will and did a great job. I was a bit worried because I do not understand these complex legal matters but Scott explained everything in a language I could understand. My family and I can now look to our future with peice-of-mind.
I worked with Scott for about a year until he found he was unfit to continue the custody case. Since then, I've found better council and it turned out to be a blessing. Here's some pros and cons Pros: - Scott is very responsive, timely, and thorough in executing things that he knows needs to be done - Scott is excellent at negotiating lawyer to lawyer agreements and settlements. - Scott is overall a really good guy, means well, and has the best intentions Cons - His knowledge surrounding the particulars of calculating child support is lacking in ways I didn't understand until receiving new council. For me, it made a difference of $500/mo. using someone more knowledgeable on the matter. - When my case became more complex and less favorable, it fell outside of Scott's comfort zone and I'm grateful that he let me know that he wasn't qualified to defend me. It was hard because Scott gave me two options: 1) Continue the case in a direction that wasn't favorable but was within his comfort zone 2) Find another attorney with inadequate notice. I was very fortunate to have found more experience counsel in time, but it was a near thing. It's been a while and it doesn't upset me like it used to. I can honestly say that Scott has some great attributes. But again, those attributes are far better suited for an out of court resolution. For that narrow purpose, I'm submitting this review recommending Scott. I would not recommend Scott for any case that is closely matched and has no chance of a resolution outside of litigation.
Mr. Watanabe requested we do a call about my matter. 10 minutes before the scheduled call Mr. Watanabe texted a cancellation. My impression is Mr. Watanabe is not ready to deal with complex matters or cases, and those with these kinds of matters should avoid Mr. Watanabe.
