Hands down Scott is a lawyer I'd recommend. My custody case wasn't all that cracked up to be, but Scott took it head on and made sure everything went smoothly. His staff were great to work with - very compassionate and understanding. Throughout the case, whether it be a quick question over the phone or a sit down; I was put at ease through his knowledge and understanding of family law. I'm quite happy with the results. Thank you!
The Matthews Law Firm team provided professional, thorough, honest, trustworthy, competent, timely advice and detailed guidance during my divorce proceedings after being married nearly 30 years. Attorney Matthews was friendly and attentive during consultations; I'd use him again if needed.
Mr. Matthews met with us to discuss my son's case - leaving the scene of an accident. He told us exactly what to expect from the court and put us at ease that he would handle everything for us. He went to court for my son and everything was handled exactly as he said it would be.
This is a very unprofessional lawyer in regards to family law. He was totally intimidated by the opposing lawyer in my case. When I questioned the amount the opposing lawyer used for the calculation of child support and even provided a detailed spreadsheet of my income, this "lawyer" did not have the courage to insist where the other lawyer's numbers came from. He told me "that it won't make that much difference." The way I was treated was sickening. Once I wrote the checks to this "lawyer," the "representation" I received was horrible. Do not be fooled. You have been warned. Completely useless and easily intimated by opposing counsel.
I contacted Mr. Matthews on April 18th, 2019 re: my ex-husband's pension benefits. I paid him $200.00 consultation fee. After that, I called his office every week or so and was strung along with words to the effect, "He has to make a phone call." Or, "He has to check here or there," etc. etc. etc. Finally, after two months, I sent him an e-mail requesting a time-line on when this issue could be resolved. Today (one day later) I receive a call from his office telling me that my case is too time-consuming and he didn't have time for it but he could recommend a couple of other lawyers. I requested my consulting fee back considering I wasted two months time that may make a difference with my receiving benefits as promised in my Domestic Order. I am told he usually doesn't refund consultating fees. I am livid, disgusted, and think he is one piece of work.
This lawyer is probably good for drug violations, but not as a criminal defense attorney. He postponed my trial for 4 years; I appeared in court once a month only to find it postponed. Once the trial began, he never defended by actions nor presented my case, but only quoted other cases that were dismissed.
