About
Local attorney Scott Leonard brings experience in both criminal and civil law to his representation of clients. Scott is a Portland-area native and graduate of Northwestern School of Law at Lewis and Clark University. An entrepreneur by spirit, Scott opened his law practice at the beginning of 2008 and has continued to serve a growing number of clients from all walks of life. In criminal law, Scott holds experience from both ends of the counsel table. As a city prosecutor, Scott prosecuted misdemeanor crimes for the City of Troutdale. In private practice, Scott has built a strong criminal defense practice that focuses on getting the results that clients want to achieve. His case experience ranges from capital defense (aggravated murder), to Measure 11 charges, felones, misdemeanors, and even traffic violations. In civil law, Scott helps clients fight to get what they are due after an accident or dispute. Experience in environmental restoration and advocacy helps Scott to understand what it is like to fight from the underdog position in what often seems like an endless uphill battle. Scott comes from a background of writing. He was a section editor at the school newspaper and a Staff Writer at the Tacoma News Tribune in Washington. Scott is the author of two hiking guides, Take A Hike Seattle and Washington Hiking (also available as Pacific Northwest Hiking). Scott holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Puget Sound (Tacoma, WA) in Business and Public Administration. He was a member of the Business Leadership Program.

I was in a relatively unique situation involving a car accident and was being held financially responsible, although I didn't believe I was solely at fault. I wasn't sure if it was even worth trying to fight. During the initial consultation, Mr. Leonard did a great job of listening, asking the right questions, and informing me of all of the possible outcomes. He was also clear about what his approach would be, and I left feeling like I had a clear idea of how he was planning to proceed. I decided to hope for the best and hired him to handle the case. He kept me up to date on the progress of the case and did a great job communicating with me throughout the process. I was incredibly relieved and grateful when he won the case for me, as it saved me quite a bit of money. I would absolutely recommend Mr. Leonard to any of my friends or family, and would use his services again should I ever find myself in a similar situation (although I'll cross my fingers that never happens :-)
Scott is a highly professional attorney who did a great job negotiating and administrating a pre-trial settlement for me. He provided courteous and well intentioned representation to both myself and the city attorney's office. Highly recommended.
Who says that lawyers can't be good people? The first time I hired Scott was for a traffic infraction that I didn't have time to deal with. He did a great job of keeping me updated and keeping me from having to be bothered at all by the process. The next time I called him, was for an auto accident where the claim process was dragged out by the other person's insurance company forever. Mr Leonard again kept me in the loop without letting anyone involved bother me about any of it. I will never delete Scott's number from my phone and will never hesitate to recommend him to any of my friends or family.
Scott did a great job for me on two separate traffic cases - an illegal u-turn and photo radar ticket. In both cases, he represented me well which resulted in 'not guilty' result. I highly recommend him.
