About
Jamie, a Wheeling, West Virginia native, became an attorney with the firm in 2000. Jamie had previously assisted the attorneys at the firm while he was in high school and during the summers while he was in college and law school. In 2002, he was named a partner in the firm.Since joining the firm, Jamie has represented numerous individuals in cases involving automobile accidents. He has represented clients in Ohio, Marshall, Wetzel, Brooke, and Monongalia Counties in West Virginia. He also maintains an active practice in the state of Ohio, having represented individuals in Belmont, Jefferson, Harrison, Guernsey, Huron, Cuyahoga, Geauga, and Stark Counties in Ohio. Jamie also regularly practices in front of the United States District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia.Another major focus of Jamie's practice is cases involving insurance misconduct. He has represented individuals in cases against numerous major insurance companies, including State Farm, Allstate, Nationwide, Travelers, Westfield, Erie, The Hartford, and Encompass. He believes strongly in fighting for the rights of individuals throughout West Virginia and Ohio that have been mistreated by major corporations. He has obtained many settlements for his clients in this area of the law. Jamie has also been active in many of the firm's complex cases. He has been involved with and litigated medical malpractice cases. He has represented families in wrongful death cases. Jamie has handled professional negligence cases in diverse areas such as medicine, nursing, insurance agency, and photography. He has also represented workers who have been wrongfully discharged from their employment. Jamie has been active in cases involving defective products, such as recreational equipment for children, power tools, and automobiles that have resulted in injuries to consumers. He has represented individuals who have been attacked and injured by both other individuals and vicious animals. He has also represented individuals who have been the target of unfair debt collection practices.In 2003, Jamie was selected to serve on the Board of Governors of the West Virginia Association for Justice and continues to act in that capacity. He is also a member of the West Virginia State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Ohio State Bar Association, the American Association for Justice, the Ohio Academy of Trial Lawyers, and Trial Lawyers for Public Justice. He is currently licensed to practice before the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals, the Ohio Supreme Court, and the United States District Courts for the United States District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia and Southern Districts of West Virginia.Jamie is a Cum Laude graduate of theNotre Dame Law School. While attending Notre Dame Law School, Jamie received the Dean's award for being the outstanding student in complex criminal litigation. Prior to his final year of law school, he served as a legal intern with the Public Defender's office for the First Judicial Circuit of West Virginia in 1999. In the summer of 1998, Jamie spent the summer abroad, studying law in London, England through courses being taught by British law professors. Jamie also received a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame where he graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1997. While completing his undergraduate studies he was the Sports Editor of The Dome, the University of Notre Dame yearbook, from 1994 to 1997. In that capacity, Jamie was responsible for the publication of 54 pages each year. Jamie's work included covering the Notre Dame football team each season and was capped off with a tribute to Lou Holtz in his final season at Notre Dame. Jamie also served as a head interhall football coach at the University of Notre Dame from 1995 to 1999. Jamie's teams made the playoffs in each of his five seasons as head coach and he twice took his teams to the title game. He was featured in an NFL Films Segment on interhall football at Notre Dame in a program that aired on ESPN and ESPN2 in January 2000.Jamie is a 1993 graduate of Wheeling Park High School. While attending Wheeling Park, he was elected by the student body to serve as President of the student council. Jamie was also the starting quarterback and captain of the Patriot football team. He was a National Merit Finalist in 1993 and was also chosen as a member of the National Honor Society.Jamie married the former Stacy Contraguerro of Wheeling in May 2004. He is the son of the two named senior partners of the firm, Jim and Linda Bordas. Jamie also has a younger brother named Ben (Boody).
