About
I founded Maine Land Law LLC, PA as a solo law firm in 2009, and joined with colleagues to co-found Douglas McDaniel & Campo in October 2013. Drawing on my background in land conservation and civil litigation experience in state and federal courts in Maine, I focus my Maine Land Law practice on land use and property law. The other lawyers in my firm practice in a broad selection of civil and criminal law areas.I truly enjoy helping clients determine what they can and cannot do with their property. I provide land use opinions, and help clients obtain (or challenge) land use permits at the municipal and state agency level, including judicial appeals if necessary. I help clients resolve boundary and easement disputes through litigation or settlement. I also negotiate conservation easements, trail easements and licences, and assist in real estate transactions.

Attorney McDaniel was very helpful. She combined in depth knowledge of real estate, with practical common sense and very humane recommendations for how to navigate a difficult conflict. I am very grateful for your help.
I want to express that Atty. Sarah McDaniel was so wonderful when she handled my case for me. I am living out of state and was worried how to go about settling my Real Estate transaction without being present. I was assured from the first phone call, that this would be a non-issue and she would handle everything for me. She held true to her words, and was very thorough and very professional the whole way through. I knew that I found the best lawyer to handle my case and Atty.McDaniel is hands down my # 1 choice when referring anyone in need. Don't hesitate, this should the only choice for you too! Thank you for everything Atty.Sarah McDaniel.
I came across Attorney McDaniel's website on a random Google Search for "Real Estate Lawyer Maine" and I couldn't have done better. She was timely in her work, efficient, I felt confident that she knew exactly what she was doing. I was very pleased with her work. I would recommend her firm.
Sarah was very well informed and helped us tremendously with our father's land and the transition to having the farm preserved through Maine FarmLand Trust.
We lease agricultural land that is protected by a conservation easement. The land owner was developing a management plan with the easement holders that seemed to impinge on our agreed-upon uses. Sarah helped us understand and exercise our rights as a lease holder vis a vis the rights and responsibilities of the other parties. She was extremely knowledgeable on the relevant law, was very accessible, and worked very efficiently. As a result, we were able to very quickly bring the issue to a successful close. We would absolutely work with her again.
Ms. McDaniel was wonderful in saving my family's home, which had fallen behind on property taxes and was on the verge of being taken by the city or Portland. She was wonderful at communicating with my family as well as the city and helped us work out a solution that allowed us to keep the house. Most importantly, Ms. McDaniel kept us very informed every step of the way and billed us very fairly. I will absolutely hire her in the future should any need arise.
Sarah McDaniel represented my family in a zoning dispute with a Cumberland County town and an abutting property owner. She was recommended by another attorney who had a conflict and was unable to take our case. I owe that attorney a big thank you! Right from the start Sarah was very professional yet friendly, putting us at ease with the process. She took our hundreds of pages of poorly organized research and made sense out of it, added to it, and came up with a course of action and grounds to file an appeal. Sarah never held out false hope and was very honest in her opinion for our chances to prevail. She was also upfront on what to expect in overall costs to proceed with the action. We were kept well informed by her during the entire process. Always responded to emails promptly and returned phone calls in a timely manner. All of our questions were always answered fully and any suggestions we had were well considered by her. Our appeal was successful and I can honestly give Sarah our highest recommendation. Our appeal was successful which we attribute to Sarah’s dedication and diligence. Definitely a ten out of ten.
Said it would take her a month to answer question" what is a quitclaim deed, and is it for heirs/family only?" I've never heard of such a thing.
