About
Sara was born in Houston, Texas before moving to Cheyenne, Wyoming where she graduated from High School. After high school, Sara moved to Seattle, Washington and began her undergraduate studies at Seattle University. Sara then moved to Spokane, continuing her undergraduate studies at Gonzaga University. While working at Gonzaga University, Sara continued pursuit of her undergraduate degree, graduating in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, minor in General Business and Concentration in Women’s Studies.Before law school, Sara began her legal career as a paralegal to Gonzaga University’s in-house counsel. With that experience, Sara wanted to earn a law degree so she could practice law. During her time in law school at Gonzaga, Sara participated in the Spokane County Bar Association’s Divorce Advice Clinic and clerked at a Spokane firm until her graduation. Sara graduated from Gonzaga law school and gained admission to the Washington State Bar Association in June 2011. At that point, Sara began working as a law clerk at the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Washington handling Social Security disability appeals, helping people work through the difficult channels of receiving disability benefits. After a few years of social security disability work, wanting to make a change, but continue her work in helping people in difficult times, Sara transitioned to general practice, including family law after relocating to the Tri-Cities. In May 2017, Sara joined Ashby Law and now works nearly exclusively on family law matters although she does still enjoy working on social security disability claims as well. Sara holds membership in the Washington State Bar Association, Family Law Section, as well as both the eastern and western federal district courts in Washington. Sara is also a member of the Benton-Franklin Counties local bar association.In her time away from work, Sara enjoys spending time with her husband and 4 children playing board games and camping. Sara was professional, and I could sense a real caring for her clients. I would recommend her to my friends. Linda O. was very helpful as well.
I had a bit of a rough start at ashby law I have to admit, but Sara Herr-Waldroup really turned things around for me. She believed in me getting my daughter back and really fought for it. This to me is what makes her such a great lawyer.
I had a pretty messy custody situation. My ex and I entered into a plan knowing he would move across the state. After trying to figure travel and time he attempted to file papers to have our 1 year old at the time spend large amounts of time away from her normal routine. I found Sara because my case was being reviewed in another county other than were my child and I were living. Sara helped me thru every step. She listened to my situation, was honest about her opinion and strategy. She explained each step to me and was always on top of things. When my venue was changed she stayed on my case. She continued to communicate and trust our plan even when I couldn’t see the full picture. Sara researched the rules and always used facts to back up our statements. She is always calm and confident when talking about my case. Regardless of my questions Sara would always answer with exceptional information. She would return calls, emails, and meet with me when I requested. If you are looking for someone who can take a messy situation and break each part down with facts and honesty and come out strong Sara and her team will go the extra mile to ensure you are taken care of!
Sara is very knowledgable of the disability system, she had all the paperwork and everything for the ALJ on time for my hearing. Sara prepaired me for my hearing, making sure we had all of my medical records and how I needed to present myself and answer questions. I highly recomend her, She cares for her clients and by her skilled knowledge of Social Security Disability and prepairing me for hearing day, It was not stressful for me sitting in front of the ALJ and listening to the medical experts . I give her an excellent rating.
Sara was so easy to work with! She was so confident from the get-go that it made me fell that way to! In the court room she was just pure Professional! I would call on Sara as my lawyer 1st!!! Thankyou again Sara Herr-Waldroup Cathy : }
I am very impressed on how she was always in contact with me and kept me informed of the whole process. She always took her time to explain everything to us. I would strongly recommend her to anyone that is struggling with their SSI/ disability benefits.
It was my last chance through the SSDI system when Sara took my case. I had honestly thought my chances for winning at this point were slim to none. While maintaining professionalism she was still able to convey a certain empathy. I could tell that she cared and that she wasn't just going through the motions. Being my last chance, there was a lot riding on the outcome of my case for not only myself but for my family so I was extremely nervous during the hearing. She was able to ask the right questions to help keep me calm and relatively focused. Throughout the whole process I have to say that I was surprised by her promptness. Even though I'm sure she was handling other cases, she would reply to phone messages and e-mails if not the by same day than certainly the next. In her responses she was professional and extremely detailed. I was never at a loss for understanding what was going on or what to expect. My disability has kept me from working for over six years and Sara winning my case has meant so much to myself and my family. I can't thank her enough and would recommend her to anyone!
If you want an attorney that loves to collect money from you while putting in the minimum effort for you - Go with Sara If your a father going through a divorce and a child custody battle and never want to see your kid again -Go with Sara If you want someone that you spent $10,000 to represent you and have your best interests; but in the end you realize there was no point in hiring her because the end result would have been better representing yourself -Go with Sara DONT MAKE THE MISTAKE I MADE!!!
We really wanted to like Sara, but the bottom line is that we spent over $11,000 in attorney fees for a basic probate case, and we never even reached mediation. She left Clearwater Law Group (the firm she was with when we hired her) for Ashby and had verbally agreed to finish our case with her at her new firm. Based on her word, we ended our relationship with Clearwater Law. She never contacted us afterward, or responded to any of our numerous calls. She never even attempted to close out her work with us in any form or fashion. We were left with a huge bill and NO RESULTS whatsoever... not even a case that lost. Will definitely not recommend. Poor ethics. Complaint will be filed with WA State Bar Association.

Sara was so easy to work with! She was so confident from the get-go that it made me fell that way to! In the court room she was just pure Professional! I would call on Sara as my lawyer 1st!!! Thankyou again Sara Herr-Waldroup Cathy : }
We really wanted to like Sara, but the bottom line is that we spent over $11,000 in attorney fees for a basic probate case, and we never even reached mediation. She left Clearwater Law Group (the firm she was with when we hired her) for Ashby and had verbally agreed to finish our case with her at her new firm. Based on her word, we ended our relationship with Clearwater Law. She never contacted us afterward, or responded to any of our numerous calls. She never even attempted to close out her work with us in any form or fashion. We were left with a huge bill and NO RESULTS whatsoever... not even a case that lost. Will definitely not recommend. Sara was so easy to work with! She was so confident from the get-go that it made me fell that way to! In the court room she was just pure Professional! I would call on Sara as my lawyer 1st!!! Thankyou again Sara Herr-Waldroup Cathy : }
