About

Samuel H. Pietsch and Steven J. Matz have practiced law together since 1988. Mr. Pietsch earned his law degree from Wayne State University (1979). Previously, he earned the Master’s Degree from the University of Michigan School of Public Health (1975) and his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Michigan (1973). His practice is devoted exclusively to personal injury cases. Every day of his legal career has been committed to helping people who have been wronged and hurt through no fault of their own.  Whether as a trial litigator or settlement negotiator, Mr. Pietsch has achieved tens of millions of dollars in settlements and verdicts for thousands of injured people and their families. Motivated by his ever-growing interest in medical, technical and scientific subjects, Mr. Pietsch has successfully represented Michigan families in cases as diverse as medical malpractice, product failure, improper highway design, workplace injury, police misconduct, insurance disputes and automobile injury. Respected by his peers as fair and knowledgeable in the practice of personal injury law, Mr. Pietsch has been called upon by the Wayne County Mediation Tribunal Association and by Oakland County Circuit Court Mediation to assist thousands of other lawyers in the effort to bring their cases to a conclusion by negotiating a just settlement. "Every day of my entire legal career has been spent helping people who have been wronged and hurt through no fault of their own.  We know that no one can ever bring your life back to where it was before the problem happened.  My job is to use all of my training and experience to utilize the full extent of the law to do what is right for you. At Matz and Pietsch we don’t represent insurance companies or other special interest groups.  We only represent victims of negligence who are injured by the carelessness of others.  We’re on your side." While obtaining money damages or other compensation is the goal of any personal injury claim, Mr. Pietsch recognizes that victims who have been through a persona tragedy deserve their lawyer’s patience, understanding and support.  He attempts to approach each claim or case with the sensitivity and respect that the lawyers at Matz and Pietsch strive to achieve with every person they meet. Mr. Pietsch is rated AV Preeminent (the highest rating given) by Martindale-Hubbell. Michigan Super Lawyers Magazine has recognized him as one of the top 5% of attorneys practicing in the state. Samuel H. Pietsch is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, United States District Court Bar, 6th Circuit Court of Appeals Bar, American Association for Justice, Michigan Association for Justice (Sustaining Member) and Wayne County Mediation Tribunal Association. Areas of Practice 100% Plaintiff Personal InjuryMedical MalpracticeProduct FailureBurn InjuriesImproper Highway DesignsWorkplace InjuryPolice MisconductInsurance DisputesAutomobile InjuryLitigation Percentage100% of Practice Devoted to Litigation Bar Admissions Michigan, 1979U.S. District Court Eastern District of Michigan, 1979U.S. Court of Appeals 6th Circuit, 1992U.S. District Court Western District of Michigan, 1979EducationWayne State University Law School, Detroit, MichiganJuris Doctor - 1979University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MichiganMasters, Michigan School of Public Health - 1975University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MichiganB.A. - 1973 Professional Associations and Memberships American Association of Justice, Member, 1979 - PresentMichigan Association for Justice, Sustaining Member, 1979 - Present
