About

I began my career as a family law practitioner 20 years ago as an intern and then as a newly-minted associate when I graduated, making partner after just five years. Since that time, I have represented clients in a full range of “cradle to grave” family law matters, particularly complex and high net-worth divorce cases, including property and business valuation, property division, spousal maintenance, parenting plans and custody arrangements. I also represent clients in private independent adoptions and step-parent adoptions. I work closely with each client to understand their goals and objectives in order to provide the highest level of support and advocacy. I have been recognized as a Rising Star and a Super Lawyer in the area of family law by Washington Law & Politics magazine. I am a member of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) which is a nationally recognized group of family law attorneys.

I heard of Sabrina through a divorced moms group on Facebook. I sent her an initial email to request a meeting, but had already met with and retained a lawyer before I heard back from Sabrina. I decided to meet with her since she had been recommended. What I really liked about Sabrina (even though I had already signed on with my lawyer) was that she was so straightforward and she heard my whole story through. I like that she asked for a background from beginning to end and she actually listened and provided honest feedback throughout. She has a wonderful and friendly personality. I really enjoyed talking to her, and didn't feel judged, mocked or looked down on. Divorce is a difficult process and she explained everything. I left feeling that she really takes care of those she represents and has their back. Before I left she printed out a form for me to sign for the response to the petition and urged me to file it ASAP so I didn't lose any of my rights. I ended up going back to her for a final review of my final divorce papers after my lawyer made updates. I just wanted to make sure everything looked reasonable and nothing was missed since I have a daughter and didn't want to miss or make any mistakes. Sabrina met with me, even though I was running late. She never made me feel rushed and went through the paperwork with such detail. She ended up making lots of great changes that made me feel so relieved and grateful that I had come to see her. Even though I had already retained another lawyer, my two appointments with Sabrina were enough that I felt she deserved an excellent review. I would not hesitate to seek her advice and think I would have done really well with her as my lawyer. I would not hesitate to recommend her to others based on the advice she had given me.

Sabrina helped me with a divorce case. She instilled confidence and showed right away tremendous knowledge. In court she was pure grace. Every time opposing council spoke she was able to effectively render his point moot with just a few words. A great lawyer, I would recommend her in a second.

Being a critical thinker, rarely would I give 5 stars in all categories to rate any service or professional, but in this instance I am privileged to do so. Sabrina Layman has guided me in two separate proceedings through Child Support Modification/Post-Secondary Education support with an unwilling co-parent. Ms. Layman facilitates the legal process, making it significantly less stressful. She provides moral support, while maintaining reasonable legal costs. Her positive-minded attitude and perseverance for the benefit of the children instill immediate peace of mind and garner trust. Her paralegal Debbie Sherlock has highly comprehensive knowledge on documents and proceedings, is kind, efficient, and detail-oriented. Both are true advocates for the children and their clients, and I most favorably recommend their expertise for your family law litigation needs.
