I hired Ryan after initially engaging another lawyer that, as I progressed, I felt was not the advocate or legal counsel that would represent me like I needed to be in a messy and complex bankruptcy case. It involved issues with the IRS and FTB for back taxes along with "Substitute for Returns" for several years. Through it all Ryan was professional, timely and provide strong legal counsel with the tax issues. He clearly demonstrated to me he was going to be the advocate who would get me the best result in resolving the matters with the Bankruptcy Court, the assigned Trustee, along with dealing with the various other creditors involved in addition to the IRS and FTB. He walked me through the process and had me ready for the meeting of the creditors and advised as to how to present my case to the trustee and the valuations of property that were provided to the Court. In the end he demonstrated to me that he was engaged in the case and went all in on providing me the best legal advice for the situation I was in and needed to extricate myself from to move on with my life. It was not all about incurring legal fees but rather providing sound legal counsel to resolve the issues and being a true professional in all respects of the bankruptcy . Ryan has a good "bedside" manner that clients will need and in the end he has earned their trust and apprecation as well.
I just finished my case with Ryan Wood. I have never filed bankruptcy before and had $160,000 in debt. I make well over six figures and things were so bad I was borrowing gas money from my brother on occasion. Sad, I know. I was totally stressed out. Depressed. I was trying to research online and figure it out bankruptcy on my own. I knew because of my income I had to pass this thing called a "means test." It seemed I would never be able to qualify. I was very discouraged, but my brother who has filed bankruptcy in the past kept encouraging me to file. I called around, talked with three bankruptcy attorneys and ended up meeting two in person. One was Ryan Wood, who I ultimately went with. Sheesh, I don't even know where to start because I JUST found out my case was closed a few days ago, and I still can't believe it! I have such a weight off of me. Ryan was amazing. He is so friendly and encouraging. I have worked with lawyers before, and Ryan is NOT like other lawyers. He is nice. He is real. He is down-to-earth and... a little quirky, haha, but that adds to his personality. As a lawyer, of course he is busy, but he was reasonably responsive to my communications. He even called me once while he was sick as a dog to check in with me. He sounded like hell. At one point the court asked for further documentation. Of course, I panicked, thinking "well this is it, They are going to reject my chap 7 request." Ryan help me stay calm though. We got the documents together for the court. Ryan reassured me sometimes the court asks for clarifying documentation. He walked me through what the plan would be if my case was rejected. Well, it never happened. Ryan did a great job, and I have my life back. The collectors have stopped calling. My credit score is already up in the 600's since I don't have any more late payments. It started climbing soon after I filed. I did not expect that. And, now, I have money in my pocket again! Thank you Ryan!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED -will
My once low interest rate payment on my credit card spiraled out of control; they started charging over 22% interest monthly on my cards. I tried and tried to make all the payments until I realized this is an uphill battle that is getting worse each month. I reached the point that I did not have enough money monthly to pay them now. I called my creditors asked them if they could lower the interest rate back to the 6.99% or lower than what it is currently; explained that I was struggling to make the payments at this time; all I heard was No we cannot do that. I must say I was so worried about the thought of filing bankruptcy. I was scared and I felt bad to have to do this to my creditors but they were not willing to work with me. I then decided to research bankruptcy attorneys. I called a few some had a recording asking me to leave a message, during my search online I came across The Law Offices of Lin & Wood they have an office in Redwood City and in Fremont. I live in Hayward so the Fremont office worked for me. I then went on the Better Business Bureau website to see if they were an Accredited Business, if they had any complaints filed against them as well as to see the rating giving to the by the Better Business Bureau. I was thrilled to see they were Accredited and holds an A+ rating; I felt good knowing this information. I guess my biggest concern was if I was going to file I needed to feel comfortable with the law firm that would walk me through this huge endeavor I was about to undertake financially. I was confident with their rating I located the best firm I could in the east bay. On my first attempt of calling Mr. Ryan Wood answered the phone; I explained my situation and the urgency to get this started. He listened without interrupting me, when I stopped he started providing me with the needed information. He also squeezed me into his schedule the same day I was truly impressed. I met with him he explained everything in a way that was easy for me to understand what was going to happen step by step. I retained him that day; he instructed me in gathering all my debt and credit card balances and turn them into him as well as some monthly expenses paperwork I would need to turn in to assist him in determining what type of bankruptcy would be best for me chapter 13 or chapter 7. I have to admit Mr. Ryan wood told me the honest truth; each step happened just like he said they would. I am pleased to say I now live comfortably without worrying how am I going to pay my bills any longer and I do not have any creditors sending me letters or calling my phone or work. He does allow you some time I believe it was 60 days to pay the full down; he explained the case would be on hold not being worked until they received the full down payment. I decided I needed to pay this now to get the ball rolling even if I had to borrow it; I didn't want any wage garnishments to start? I did pay it in full within a day; three months later I met him at the courthouse in Oakland; shortly following the court appearance my bankruptcy case was done. Thanks to Mr. Ryan Wood I am now living a stress-free life. He is truly the best and has a vast amount of experience in bankruptcy law!! You're in good hands if you retain him. I hope this review helps calm your nerves; I know how nervous I was at the beginning stages. Good luck to you!
Ryans Knowledge of the local Bankruptcy court system was very assuring to me while I was awaiting my court case. He was observant of the detailed things that mattered, like which judge is presiding the court case and paid good attention to the mood and setting of court cases prior to mine which made a big difference in setting up expectation of how my court case would be judged. West coats Bankruptcy Attorneys have been great help. I was informed this month that my bk was discharged after converting cases. We have worked with Ryan for the past 3-4 years and Ryan was very patient with me as he required documentation and I consistently had to go through hopes to get my documents as my documentation was not in a conventional format typically. What I like about Ryan is that he understood the value of me owning my family home since 1996, almost 20 years and there was a need to maintain the property in this unstable economy. Finally I feel we have the head start we need to start again and by the grace of God Ryan and West Coast Bankruptcy was there to assist me and my family. Thanks Ryan I appreciated your help.
Mr. Wood and his partner Ms. Lin did an excellent job with my Chapter Seven bankruptcy case. I was very worried about my situation and they answered all my questions helping me to get through a difficult period in my life. Thank you again for all your help, I would highly recommend them!!!
I had an extremely positive experience with Attorney Ryan Wood. He handled my case in a very efficient and timely manner. His communication was very clear, detailed and he would always respond promptly to any of my questions or concerns. I truly appreciated the professional knowledge that he readily shared with me regarding my case. I felt from my very first meeting with Attorney Wood that my case was in very capable hands, which really afforded me a feeling of ease. He truly is an outstanding professional that you will immediately like and greatly appreciate!
Ryan & Kitty are the best! I highly recommend them to anyone who is thinking about filing bankruptcy. Very professional and care about their clients future.Excellent service!
Bankruptcy is nothing that anyone WANTS to do. In years past the name alone has had such a negative stigmata. However, when push came to shove, and there was no other way out, Ryan was there for us. He helped us through all the stages, gave us great counseling, and anytime we had a question, no matter how ridiculous, he was there to answer it. When we had to go to the meeting of the lenders, there were approximately 10 other lawyers with their clients. I was able to witness how the other lawyers operate, and it was just yet another moment that I knew we made the right choice with West Coast Bankruptcy Attorneys. If you should go with anyone else, then you only have yourself to blame.
I highly recommend Mr. Wood if your planning on filing for bankruptcy. He always answered our questions, returned phone calls and guided us through the process and for a fee we could afford.
Filing bankruptcy was a big step for us. Something we kept putting off thinking it would be a long difficult process. We met Ryan and were immediately put us at ease. He made this process so simple. Walked us through every step of the way. Communicastion is very important to us and I was always able to reach Ryan by phone or email with in minutes.
